The Real Atlantis

Many theories exist as to the validity of the tale of the so-called Atlantis. The name is not so much a name for the country as a descriptor for its location....in the Atlantic. Is it possible that a land once existed in the middle of the pond? Is it possible that some great natural calamity occurred that wiped it from the earth leaving only fragile memories lost in antiquity?

Consider for a moment the problem of the early, ca. 12,000 BCE occupation of the eastern seaboard of North America by peoples who apparently bare greater connection to Spain and France than to Siberia (based on the similarities to the Clovis head points used on spears). How did they travel that distance over wide open seas? Maybe they did not.....maybe it was one puddle jump to a land mass and then another...and maybe even another.

Consider what we have really only recently come to understand about super volcanoes...one was discovered in the last decade in Indochina that apparently was unknown prior to that time. It had erupted some 70,000+ years ago. What if the 'Atlantic" we know so well is another huge, super volcano remnant caldera?

Consider for a moment the surprisingly and unexplainable early high technology and civilization that arises in South America, North Africa, and along other, as of yet, unknown locations? Consider the strong links in mythology, craft, industry, and even language in some locations?

Who knows, maybe the next super volcano will sink all of Europe, North America or Australia to the depths of the ocean. Thrust back to the surface may be rugged land masses, with secrets and revelations that will haunt what remains of humanity just as Plato's report of this ancient legend has done for centuries.

Tales from the Dark Side of Life

There are several reports of theories as to why there is a sudden convergence of communication change taking place. The rumbles are increasing in volume. Is there an secret motive to the move to digital TV? Is there a reason why NASA has slowed down release of images? Is it true that the DOD or Pentegon may have banned release of space images or satellite info until it is surveyed? Why? The recent orders to NASA to finish the space station by 2010 add to the questions. What is going on 'up there'? What will be going on 'down here'? Why the need to make certain almost all communications are - ultimately and for all working purposes - filtered? Just something to think about.....

Ada, Oklahoma - Home to Secret Cloning Base?

"Or, at least that is the rumor. According to some there is an alien underground base in or near Ada, Oklahoma. These are not the cute E.T.'s of Hollywood. These are the malicious, evil reptilian creatures whose goal seems to be world domination. These include the familiar "grays" but also more classic reptile looks hidden by various disguises. Another story has been uncovered that suggests that the "activity " going on in Ada, Oklahoma is not aliens - but the secret government of the Illuminati- and they are at work on cloning projects deep under ground. Anyone with a gamma detector should be able to locate the source - despite its being hidden some 7 levels down- as the "process" apparently uses large amounts of gamma radiation.

"Ada, Oklahoma’s underground facility is being used to clone humans. The other cloning facilities are turning out weird creatures. Due to the processes involved they give off lots of gamma radiation (Gamma is at the far end of the electromagnetic wave spectrum--it is even a longer wave than ultraviolet). It becomes clear that no one in Ada need even see anything. They probably created a tunnel that takes them to the fast food spots in a nearby town.

These 'bases' are turning out clones of movie stars and political leaders - as if there were not enough of them already. The first run in the reserve parts business? A mad plan for world domination? The brain child of a high school student in Ada after a kegger?? Who knows.....who can be sure.....

I am, however, keeping my eyes open for increasing numbers of "twins".

SHADOW PEOPLE

There is an open door somewhere between this reality and another. There has to be, because that is the only explanation for the apparent increase in the number of sightings of these strange entities called shadow people. Someone opened the door and forgot to close it behind them.

What is known about these entities? Almost all reports associate their presence with feelings of fear, oppression, danger, anxiety or unease. Most reports indicate absolute silence in their demeanor. Most reports appear to indicate they like to stay near shadows and avoid well lighted areas. Some reports report red glowing eyes, but most indicate no discernible features other than a humanoid or anthropomorphic shape.

They have been explained away as tricks of light, when caught on security video 'artifacts', undiagnosed tumors or eye problems, stress induced hallucinations, etc.

They appear to have no real history before about the 1990's. What event in our culture sparked the creation of this new phantom? If no event, what may have occurred then to allow these creatures entry into this reality? What experiments may have happened?

It is interesting that in that time period there were reports of the strange number of deaths of scientists working in various biological fields. Did some experiment get out of hand?

There is a theory that with ghosts they draw strength by feeding off the energy of electronics and humans. Are these similar? Are there more reports because - like the theory presented last year by some astronomers who said by looking at some event we changed it - by seeing these shadow people are we giving them energy and thus changing the course of some strand of history?

Little Ice Ages

In about the year 1000, Norseman sailed west from Iceland seeking milder climates, new refuges, adventure, and no doubt, excitement. A mini-ice age had settled across northern Europe and the region of Iceland and Greenland. Hearty adventurers sought new lands and found themselves in North America...traveling its water ways and following its coasts.

In the 1880's this was termed the "Maunder minima" by solar astronomer, Edward W. Maunder. It was thought to explain the drop in sun spot activity between 1645 and 1715 that resulted in a change in climate. In the 1970's a solar physicist Jack Eddy searched records, historical data, and various reports to conclude that periods of minimal sun spot activity strangely coincided with these "little ice ages". A more recent (2004) study uses modeling and suggests that sun spot activity has been at a high for about 8,000 years. The jury is still out, however, and causative aspects are still in dispute. [NASA image]

What about the theory of sunsports being related to paranormal activity? That the apparitions reported are in response to variations in the Earth's electronmagnetic fields due to increased, or at least changing, sunspot activity? If the sun spots decrease, and there is a corresponding decrease in reported paranormal activities, at least one theory may be verified. If they, however, do not change or even increase..... There may be reasons other than global climate changes to get a wary eye on the sunspots and the temperature.

SHUTTING THE DOOR: Kicking An Entity Out

How does a negative or evil entity enter into a house or a location?

1. Direct, intentional invitation including playing around with “incantations”, “curses”, and “spells”. These often create an easy “portal” through which these negative entities slip into our plane of existence or our dimension.
2. Mental illness, depression (severe), drug abuse, alcohol abuse, incest, and negativity.
3. Hangers-on from previous invitations or from previous experiences in the location.
4. Violence can attract them as can strong emotions of hate, anger, jealous and unresolved emotional issues.
5. An environment that focuses attention on negative and destructive forces: occult collections, serial killer books, and violent or negative videos, negative music, and other non-positive elements.

How does a negative or evil entity leave a home or a place?

1. Direct, intentional repulsion of the entity. “This is my house. You are no longer welcome here! Get out!”
2. A direct call to divine authority to remove the entity or entities: Bible readings, prayers, litanies, chants, songs, sprinkling holy water or smudging with sage.
3. A direct retraction of the original invitation. A direct command to close and lock the “portal” being used and to not open another one.
4. Seek professional counseling for negative, abusive, or violent forces in the home. Seek to remove and resolve all negative elements in the home or location. These can be like magnets attracting the negative forces to your home or location.
5. A blessing of the property, the pouring of a protective rind of salt, and burying holy or blessed objects.

6. A combination of all the above.

CERN & EARTHQUAKES: A CONNECTION?

On September 10, 2008 CERN launched the initial run of the Hadron Accelerator in Switzerland only to be shut down due to a problem in the system. This problem has kept it off line since then but as early as February they may be looking at a second test, but most probably not until summer.

Did the initial test have adverse impact on the globe? The Hadron is located underground on the French-Swiss border region. On Sept. 10 there was an earthquake in Iran, Japan, on Sept. 11 Japan and Indonesia, Sept. 22 China, and Sept. 26 in Southern California. Did the test set up a chain reaction of underground instability resulting in earthquakes?

Apparently not, as coincidental as the dates appear, looking backwards finds other "clusters" of events unrelated to the CERN test and in about the same numbers and geographic spread. Something is going on "downstairs" - as Yellowstone data indicates - but it is probably not the fault of any tests....at least known we know about.

If We Changed the Past - Would We Know?

This is a question designed to make you pull your hair out. The particle accelerator, time travelers, time machines - these have been a staple aspect of many discussion over the last decade. Theories have arisen suggesting that it may be easier to 'transition' through time than previously thought possible. Some, building on quantum theory, suggest slipping into another dimension, traveling back or forward and then stepping into our time line again. It would all occur with the ease of taking an elevator or subway train. It assumes, however, that those other dimensions exist and that they are vacant.....what if they are not?

What if this did happen? Would we even know if it had? Now, here's a question posed recently, has it already happened? Some - sensitives -have noted some occasions in the last couple of years where they sensed something 'changed' about the reality they woke to after a night's sleep. One, at least, woke in the night with a sense of psychic movement as if there was a tremor in time itself. They woke to familiar surroundings yet felt as if they had stepped into a pair of shoes that did not fit just right......

So, would we know if someone found a way to slip into time and change the past?

The Shadow of Something Not There

Ever been accused of seeing things? Of having an over-active imagination? Who hasn't? Going through a historic old house snapping pictures of quaint sites and objects...a velvet covered chair...a glowing oil lamp....a shadow that walked across the window cast by no living person.

It was easy to see...it was there and then it wasn't Go check outside....while it is being checked....the shadow reappears. Cloudy overcast day - so no clouds obscuring the sunshine...just a shadow that is there....and than is gone......

Predictions 2009

Okay, we did soooo well for 2008 let's give 2009 a shot. Closing my eyes and thinking hard....

There will be a major embarrassment for someone high in government.
There will be increased sightings of strange lights, triangles, and similar objects.
There will be a major earthquake in an area unassociated with them (2.5 or above).
A major science firm will reveal that it has been working - perhaps even illegally - on some form of cloning.
There is a mystery to 2009....a large question mark....something strange, very strange, is going to happen. What it will be - how large the impact - are still open ended.
An act of terrorism- or something similar- will reveal something very shocking and deeply disturbing.
There will be a need to store up some food stuffs, water, and short term supplies due to natural or manmade calamity in several locations associated with water,wind and rock.
A major government leader in the world will be ousted.

THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL....AGAIN?

The classic 1951 movie of a peaceful ambassador of other world's warning Earth to stem its violent tendencies has been remade and opened recently. A news story from Denver discusses if this is more documentary than fiction....offering along the way some interesting claims from the Disclosure Movement.

As has been previously mentioned in this blog there are some who claim that Earth has been contacted, that Earth is presently overrun with aliens in the guise of humans and that soon an armada will arrive to whisk them away home....sort of a Rapture in reverse?

I think there is little doubt the aliens are among us.....they have been alive and well in Washington DC for decades....it would explain sooooo much.

A Gathering of the Dead

There is much controversy over the subject of orbs - are they spirits or merely specks of dust caught by the camera? The following is shared simply because of the strangeness of the photo in its context. The image is of a funeral on a bitter cold day and the deceased was being buried in a family cemetery. Every photo in the tent near the coffin shows orbs but none elsewhere. The orbs appear to also match the known family members buried around the deceased. Coincidence? Or a gathering of the dead to welcome one of their own? May they all rest in peace.....

OF BLOOD AND GHOSTS

In one of the world's oldest writings, The Odyssey, attributed to Homer in the 8th century BCE, there is an interesting scene of Hades with dark blood and pale specters. Interestingly, the ghosts are described as, ".. spirit, like a dream, flits away, and hovers to and fro" and elsewhere as "pale and wavering"......

The hero sacrifices rams and summons one particular shade but others come as well - drawn by the sacrificial blood and the life it represents...spectral moths to a flame of mortality. It is very interesting that this - so old a tale - contains some of the same motifs so common to modern beliefs of ghosts. The ability of the death's shade to move in non-human ways, to appear opaque, and to be drawn to those who can see them. Numerous mediums indicate that this is a danger whenever people play with games or relics designed to contact the dead....the door is opened and no guarantees as to what may tag along.....

Surely, the vampiric legends see their roots in this older image as well....the glistening, dark, rich blood that brings the dead like famished, thirsting wanderers of the dark desert of death.

Shadow Person Seen in Daylight?

"R" reports seeing what he thinks was a shadow person but he was seen in the middle of the day. "I was coming across NW 36th street in Oklahoma City and stopped at a grocery store. When I come back out, I am fiddling with my keys and look up and there is this smoky human shaped 'thing' in the aisle by the cars and that thing seems to look toward me and then sort of ...folds back... on itself. You remember the Kevin Bacon film "Hollow Man"? It was a little like that only it was all smoky and dark rather than shiny and clear. Boy, it spooked me...."

Strangely, this is near an area where someone reported earlier a disappearing person. On that stretch of road there was a tall wire fence covering all the block facing the street. This figure was seen to dash across the street...be lost momentarily behind a passing truck and should have been visible on the sidewalk since there was no place else to go.....yet there was no sign of anyone. There was a block long line of 8 foot metal fence where he should have been clearly visible given where he was seen before the truck momentarily blocked him from the witnesses view. He was no where to be seen. He was apparently wearing a lightweight shirt on a frosty morning as well.

New Quake Rattles OKC

Apparently this latest one was entered near NE 29 and MLK and the Tinker Air Base areas the quake for a little over a 2 point shaker - but enough to be felt. Will the next one be in Texas, IN, or Ark.? (See earlier story). A decade ago the idea of earthquakes in Oklahoma was a curiosity only - one people learned about on visiting the local science museum and seeing that there were numerous tiny quakes that were never felt...In the last few years, however, this profile appears to have changed as, it seems, more quakes are of a size to cause things and people to shake. More than one person thinks something is brewing.....

SOMETHING BUILDING?

An anomalous quake near Hot Springs, Arkansas has been termed "troubling" because it is outside the normal areas were quakes or temblors are commonly recorded (NE corner of the state). In Oklahoma in the last six months have occurred numerous quakes falling within the 2.0 and 3.5 range - large enough to be felt by people and to rattle windows and shake pictures to a slant on the walls. In Indiana near Evansville a 3 pt. rumbling was recorded within the last six months and in October Tx ans Ok once more felt the earth move (3.0 at Mcloud, OK). Is there a new fault awaking or on old one stirring to life? Most experts seem to support the idea that these central quakes have little to do with west coast activity but others are less sure. Over the last two years the dormant super volcano of Yellowstone has shown disturbing hints of restlessness.....who knows but when that might beast stirs in its sleep the movement isn't felt in Indiana, Arkansas, Texas, or Oklahoma? The infamous New Madrid fault line holds many mysteries to this day......

Who Else Was There?

Author Cullan Hudson found himself in an alleged haunted theater in Tulsa and someone snapped a photo of him. The original shows nothing but a possible "orb" on a seat 2 rows behind where he is seated - close to places where activity has been reported. Note, however, the anomolous shapes beyond the author - there is nothing but black in the original image....and was only discovered when a negative was made of the image. The author suggests dusts as the probable cause of the orb but that is just a theory but could not explain the anomoly in the right corner. [Visit the author's popular blog, Strange State]

DIGITAL TV - REVISITED

Numerous people are beginning to awake to the high strangeness of the coming enforced move to digital TV. Usually this is occurring as they see the rising rates and the poor connection services they are currently receiving and realize....hey, in a couple of months that will the only service for most people! As has been commented on previously, there is also the strange application process for help to get one of the units to make your set work without cable. Why make people apply, who fails this application process, and why make people being forced to accept something "apply"? It makes so little sense. Here are some of the theories:

Item: The aliens are arriving quicker and this will clear a communication channel for them.

Item: The secret government is taking over and this will clear a .....

Item: A world government is emerging that will use the analog for their own dire plans...

Items: People getting information through controlled channels......can have their information filtered and controlled. Will we one day be huddled in cellars listening to the faint sounds of "The Voice of Free North America?" or the "Space Alien Free Western Hemisphere"?

Item: Like the populace in the film "Running Man" entertainment can serve as a means of social control. We are alreasy seeing newstainment programs and even a blurring of the lines between "Entertainment Tonight " and what used to be called "hard news".

HUM ALONG....

Scientists, those grand gurus of rationality and evidence, have found that the earth hums...deep inside the earth rings of sound twist and dance in some subterranean version of singing in the shower.

Not to worry, insist the scientists....however recent discoveries reveal the sounds are more significant than previously thought.

With the interconnectedness of life.....who can say what impact the humming really has? is it the heartbeat that soothes us all to slumber?....the lullaby of mother earth? ....the subconscious sound that echoes through time and space, the one part of a vast galactic choir contributing to the music of the spheres?

Are You Tripping or Hunting?

There is an excellent article on Strange State about the need for quality research on paranormal investigations. Scanning You Tube there are many films of folks jumping in the car and buzzing over to [fill in the blanks] to [see, feel, hear] something paranormal. Often with a stash of weed or a long neck they go traipsing over graves, climbing in windows, or waiting by spooky roadsides.

This is not, I repeat not, "paranormal investigation."

In the same vein, simply running around snapping digital shots willy-nilly does not a "paranormal investigation" make either!

HALLOWEEN HAS GONE TO THE DOGS

Newspapers have always had a love-hate relationship with Halloween. Over the past two decades there has been an increasing tendency for newspapers to approach Halloween as an opportunity to ridicule or demonize the event. Reporters, like newscasters, share stories with phony smiles and tongue firmly planted in cheek.

For example, in Oklahoma City the big story for the holiday was ....."Costumed Canines Compete" (Oklahoman, Oct. 29, 2008, pg. 3D). Yes, it is official Halloween has gone to the dogs...

Once, there were the annual stories about local legends or happenings suitable to the season. Strange events or stories were recounted from earlier days or from old-timers. Bloggers, ghost hunting groups, authors collecting local legends, and people doing DVDs on local haunts seem to have scooped the newspapers in OKC.

Newspapers, with their connections and access, along with ability to research, should be looking so much deeper than they do. Like a lot of modern media, however, the trend seems to be give people news they don't need and fake the rest. So, little wonder that the season of mystery, marvel and fun is so mishandled.

Running Wild in the Corridors of the Insane

No, not an entry commenting on current political hopefuls, or those who would promote them, no, it is Halloween. That time when the curtain between this world and what lays beyond ripples in the cosmic breeze and glimpses are given of another dimension. Tonight parties pound out percussion heavy music as vampiric clones slither and mingle in a flashing red, black, and neon world. Around a firepit stories as old as time are shared in solemn meaning connecting life and death. Flickering jack-o-lanterns grin and gaze as the mortals playing and posing in the night. Somewhere - in a dark, deep, velvet shadow - a being wipes away the foggy mist to gaze into our darkened world. The glass is worn smooth and thin from each new swipe of the beings hand...thinner and thinner....each time it passes over to remove the film obscuring our world from its own....thinner....thinner........how long until it finally melts away like butter on a warm day? How long until.....it steps into this world....this time.....and then everything changes for ever. How long?

Who has not gazed up in awe and wonder to see the glowing orb of the moon sailing across the velvet of the sky? Or, followed the veins of craters across the foreign terrain in marvel and wonder? Who has not sought and found a face hidden in the patterns of light and dark across that sphere that follows, flirting with the earth?

"The Man in the Moon" is the term used to define this feature in cartoons, songs, and common conversation. Yet, the ancients often saw, not a man but a woman. The Moon was, after all, associated with various Goddesses whose being was reflected in phases and cycles of her daughters on Earth.

Look closely at the next full moon...do you see the hair caught up on the head, the line of nose, lips, chin, and ear.....the crater of Tycho the broach or necklace......

SPAM-ALOT

My friend has a friend....and like M she has been continuing her search through the massive spam that invades her email folder. Not only is she getting an incrediable amount of offers for her sagging.... libido, but Russians now want to be her "bride". She is having a gender crisis! She is also finding more of the strange messages in the mailings....they seem to occur when the spam count is high...hidden amongst the quantity of garbage.

People are sending emails that have been hijacked from email accounts...different names with different email accounts is sure give away! Some are gibberish emails, some are obviously coded, and some are tacked on to other messages.

Is someone - or groups of people - sending covert messages via the spam onslaught in cyberspace? Are they sending a "needle" via a mass of cyber haystacks?

One email she notes was titled "$DIKSBJ" and had two links equally coded but then underneath in much smaller type:

Another one read "the attack's aftermath, although al JazeeraTheevent was described as an "emotional" response byundertrials set for court appearances were sent back to"

SHADOW PEOPLE

Entities who appear as a solid black (sharp or diffuse) human shape. Some appear as solid to semi-solid "masses" lacking any specific human shapes, only a general anthropomorphic suggestion. They have been caught on video tape and on film and witnessed by numerous people. Some seem to be attached to specific people, following them from one locale to another.

They appear to be a new manifestation - or perhaps a new name to an older one? - that has emerged within the last 20 years. Most reports indicate that they are menacing, if not downright evil, in the emotions they convey or generate within witnesses. They do not communicate, they do not reveal themselves, and there are a few cases were they did inflict harm through "punches" or "choking."

Some have suggested they are trans dimensional creatures slipping through some tear in realities. They are the muddy water leaking from a dam that separates time and space. They are alien beings. They are demons, "interfering entities" or evil spirits. They do appear to work within the mythic parameters of dark vs light. They are seldom witnessed in broad daylight and often seen moving from shadowy areas to other shadowy areas as if they were tied somehow to the dark for existence.

From shadows they are born and in shadows they seem to move....the question remains in this season of Halloween...are they formed from the dark regions of the human mind and heart....or are they real and waiting, somewhere, in the dark?

Do SPAM messages carry illicit messages?

At the other end of the building, in the conspiracy theory nut-case ward, lives M and he often has intersting ideas. He is rapidly opposed to SPAM-mail and forwards it all with fiendish delight to the government's anti-spam reporting site. In the dead of night he can be found sitting before a small computer screen. Cries of 'Take that!"....proceed the dooming of the spam mail into a government cyber-hell. The other night though he was a bit distraught. He kept muttering that some of the spam mails had strange...ominous... messages tagged on the bottom of them...coded almost...M kept us all awake that night with visions of terrorists using emails to send coded instructions.... X suspects that the emails are originating from the same place his socks disappear to after being placed in the laundry as a pair and where the US MAIL's lost letters really go.......

A fascinating site, "Half Past Human" (see link in title) suggests that Oct. 8, 2008 may be a "tipping point" for world events. Old power structures may be in a struggle to maintain control as things change. These old power structures could be the "Illuminati" and other entities named in conspiracies. Hollywood might be construed as one, who knows? So...circle the date....and keep your eyes peeled for changes in the atmosphere, ectoplasmn, and in your nextdoor neighbor.....shhh! At roughly the same time as the CERN event was going on, I was dragged from a sound sleep...eyes reluctant to open...I felt strange...uncomfortable.....Did their grand experiment not end the world, but still impact it in some way? An air bubble in the gas tank of human existence? A tiny little ripple that swept tsunami like across human consciousness? A preliminary rattle for the cosmic earthquake still to come? Did any other sensitives experience any repercussions? Hawkings has bet against the "God Particle".....wonder if that was a good idea?

A US CIVIL WAR IN 2008: Did the time traveler get it wrong?

In 2000, a man calling himself John Titor left blunt, vague, and sometimes intriguing statements about "his future" - life in the 2030's. He was, he claimed, a time travelor. Some claim his predictions true and others a clear hoax. He did make an interesting comment about the US entering a civil war in 2004 and it becoming visible in 2008...

This point is one the debunkers point to most clearly...See? No Civil War. Yet, there might be a language gap. Some other comments reveal that this man's understanding of the use of some terms did not jibe with contemporary understanding of the term. This lag in idiom awareness could indicate several things....disinformation by someone whose first language was not English (trying to destablize society and see the impact of fear mongering?), intentional misdirection, or he was really a time traveler from a time when the language had evolved into different meanings for some terms.

One debunker jumped on the term "Civil War" . He wanted, obviously, to see battalions of "blue and grey" marching in the streets before he agreed to the term. Yet, the growing animosity between factions in the country, the "red vs. blue" intolerance which has emerged, the legal judgements approving taking private property for civic economic development, the eroding of 1st Ammendment and other rights, a general disregard for the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, the Patriot Act, the lingering hostility toward government, growing conspiracy theories, threats by presidential candidates to "redistribute" money in the hands of successful companies or individuals...are these not movements that CAN lead to real civil conflict?

Would not a time travelor be able to see the "big picture" that shows more clearly the consequences and end results of these ruptures in civility? Would he see the forest where we can only see the trees?

Is there a "tipping point" still coming in 2008 that will be the "last straw' or the thing that so destablizes the socio-political whole that civil conflct erupts? What would send the US into a major upheaval that might be seen as a "Civil War"? What would be significant enough that the entire nation would band together, taking sides, taking actions....

The furor - and fake fur - are still making headlines. Two men claim a bigfoot "catch" and take money, hold a say nothing press conference, lose jobs, and now are being sued. The lawyer for one has noted that he is amazed they fooled anyone.

Did they really fool anybody, though? Even among "true believers" there was a cautious, if hopeful, "wait-and-see" reaction. Just the type of reaction to be hoped for concerning any new discovery or claim of accomplishment. A lot of people have roots in Missouri, or at least lay claim to the "show me" mentality. Is the greatest lie out there that the public is so easily fooled? Within hours of the photos "leaking" there were several sites noting problems with the "find". The only reason these had not been heard from sooner was that they were not made available when the story first appeared (for now obvious reasons).

Within the crypto field are real, live scientists capable of objectively examining, and ruling out, the obvious and the known. That was why the men hid the facts and photos. They knew the regular news media would play it for laughs and debunking. They were more concerned about the others. The harshest critics should be, and usually are, from right inside the pro-bigfoot camp.

Something is out there...hopefully if someone finds a "real" one they will follow solid protocols.

ADA, OK - HOME OF THE ALIEN UNDERGROUND BASE

Or, at least that is the rumor. According to some there is an alien underground base in or near Ada, Oklahoma. These are not the cute E.T.'s of Hollywood. These are the malacious, evil reptilian creatures whose goal seems to be world domination. These include the familiar "grays" but also more classic reptile looks hidden by various disguises. The story goes....in the 1880's a skull was found in PA and then mysteriously disappeared....why I am not sure. It would seem that it would serve to support evolution....humans once were very animalistic and had horns! Hmmm, but if they once had horns why don't they have horns now.....??? HE SHOULD RUN TODAY

George Noory, of Coast-to-Coast AM fame, is pondering running for President in 2012. To be honest, his platform makes a whole lot more sense than some of the things the current people are saying, including Paris Hilton. He makes cogent arguments on energy, on the war on drugs, border security, and several other pertinent topics. He has details....something sadly lacking from either of the front runners or Paris Hilton. One strong selling point....he is in better touch with a large segment of the American populace than the present candidates. Would his "alternative" background hinder such a run? Will his interviews and phone calls from thousands of Americans, and Canadians, who have experienced the paranormal be a stumbling block?

In the last dozen years, we have seen so much worse from "main line" politicians.....Recently, for example, the news of the bald faced lying of a one potential VP (as well as a more recent bid for the Presidential campaign) about his affair (excuse me - but yes, this does matter because what a person does, and the ethics they follow in their private life, directly influence the decisions they make, and reflects the true nature of their character. If he can lie, and break the promises of his vows to his wife....what will he do us? DUH! ). So....now.....alternative views seem to be winning the day (in California and Massachusetts anyway). So, why not the possibility of other ....alternatives.... such as "Coast-to-Coast AM"?

In my opinion......the biggest mystery is why he is not running now......

STATE SANCTIONED RACISM

It is on every form anyone has to fill out. You are asked, and sometimes commanded, to identify yourself along race lines: White (Caucasian), Black (African-American), Asian, or Native American. Why, aside from increasingly flimsy excuses of racial equity and balance, do we continue to allow this racist line of questions to be asked? Especially in light of the fact that more and more in a multi-cultural (and multi-racial) society stigmas of marrying or reproducing outside your "color group" have so vastly changed. Why is it necessary to claim a single racial identity or ethnic identity? I believe that all people in a nation should be willing to identify themselves based on nationality - but not race.

Take for instance this very real situation. Jane Doe has a Native American grandfather and a African-American grandmother, her father is part Causation and part African-American, her mother is Asian. Why must she have to identify herself by one single checked box on a form? The idea of "true blood" is racist. Every being on this planet contains DNA that links them to a wide, wide range of human beings of every color. Open us up, and we all bleed red blood and look the exact same inside.

The time has come for tolerance of differences, acceptance of similarities, and celebration of diversity. State sanctioned racism has to go! Better classifications for research purposes would be: rural, urban, suburban. Now that would tell you something!

There are some people who walk a fine line today, balancing between the real world and the world of their own invention. There are other people who walk a fine line between ignorance and gossip.

Example, a group of students I encountered who never read, listened, or watched any news and rec'd all their information via the "word on the street" - no matter how brain dead, strung-out or stupid that word was. Now add to this websites that talk about a "Vampire Bill of Rights" to protect this minority and all Hades can break out.

Aware individuals will ask questions: who the heck are these people? They will look at the bottom of the page and see a suspicious "Home Box Office" title. They will see the site is a "sponsored link". Somebody paid out money for this website to be listed. Yet, it does not state it has any connection to an upcoming series based on books about vampires....

It does have a look: uber-conservative looking people, an almost -KKK-ish banner, and a hyperbolic narrative citing these horrible creatures, Biblical proof of their evil nature, etc.

Given that some people are down-right stupid, believe anything they are told, and have a tenuous grasp of reality anyway...well, all I (and my fellow inmates) can say is, when the bodies with stakes through their hearts start turning up...the advertising mavens who dreamed up this for "True Blood" are the ones to find.

What if...?

One of the leading theories on ghostly manifestations, EVP,etc. is that entities draw the energy from electronics equipment, batteries, and even people , in order to manifest. What happens as more and more people begin to use their little pieces of equipment, encouraging these entities to manifest? As the "feed" them will they grow ever stronger? If these ghosts are actually peaks into another dimension or reality - will this have the result of nagging at a loose thread in a seam and unravel realities........Actions have consequences. Do we really know what we are doing in investigating the paranormal?

THE PHILADELPHIA EXPERIMENT

What if........

During WW2 the US Navy was said to have played with invisibility technology. The experiment, known as the Philadelphia Experiment in paranormal circles, was supposed to have gone horribly wrong. Crew members came back from being invisible in terrible conditions, such as being embedded in the metal sheets of the hull. One individual was said to have been cast into the future even. The problems, skeptics will point out, are a lack of records or witnesses to this test. ...What if it did not happen here...in this reality.....but in another one....and that is where the records and the witnesses are.....and maybe they are trying to solve the strange disappearance of a crew member long ago......

LIGHTS, UFOs, AND NIGHT SKIES

Over the last 40 years the problem of "light pollution" of the night time sky has created increasing problems for both amateur and professional astronomers. Where once, citizens could go outside and stare up at an inky bowl with brilliant clusters of stars and a ribbon of Milky Way slinky across it....today entire generations are being raised who see nothing but electronic glow when, and if, they look up into the sky. I find this significant in light of UFO sightings of the past...with so much more sky visible one can imagine that people actually were pretty familiar with (at least) the basic arrangement and movement of the heavens. Perhaps even more than modern citizens who familiar behaviors include more Internet searching than sky searching. So....perhaps some of the early stories should be revisited to look at the sky conditions and the background the observers. I have a hunch the ones who knew the sky - pilots and others - might be in even a more secure place on the list of creditable witnesses. One only has to see a few of the You Tube videos of purported "UFO's" to know that there appears to be less knowledge today of night skies than in 1960...especially in urban areas where the night sky is obscured by thousands of street, park, building, and business lights.

PREMONITIONS

PREMONITIONS OF DEATH? Is there such a thing? People are wrestled with that question for centuries. Is it simply a trick of the mind? A short circuit that creates false impressions? Coincidence run amok? One of the most famous alleged cases of premonition is the story of President Lincoln's sense that he would die in office....and his strange dream where he walked by soldier who told him the President was dead. The multi verse view of reality -where all realities co-exist at roughly the plane or at the same time - make the potential for premonitions possible. When Lincoln dreamed did he momentarily cross over into the reality of the future? Did he glimpse what was by tapping into that vast panorama of multiple universes?

In addition, in 1908, in Denver a worker announced to his fellow laborers that he would “eat a big lunch…because the undertaker’ll get me before night.” The words were prophetic for 43 year old Peter Maloney as later that day he fell as a plank broke and drowned in the waters below. I had a dream a few years ago about extreme violence as the word "July" and 2 digit numbers (with a 2) bounced around against a backdrop of vivid yellows, blacks, oranges, and reds. It exploded me out of sleep with sweat pouring down my skin, and a sense and a certainty that something awful - truly and devastatingly terrible - was going to happen. So far...it has failed to happen...maybe someone zigged and missed the pothole of a wrong decision, maybe it was, like Dicken's story, a piece of undigested beef, or maybe....it was a glimpse further into a future that will still come to pass.....

THE SWITCH TO DIGITAL: Hmmmm

I was watching one of those commercials where they warn of the switch coming in 2009 and the need to move to cable or get a converter box. One word popped out at me: "apply". I could apply for a coupon to get a reduced price on a converter box.....what???? Apply????? They force this move on people and then they do not guarantee a coupon?? I went to the government site and read the application questions.....yes questions. Why do they need me to answer questions? Why should they care? They have foisted this move on the American people.....why questions....why an application? They should have just said : " Go print a coupon from the webpage. We brought this expense on you so - here you go!" This made me go hmmmmm....never a good thing. I recalled a small news piece from awhile back that said that some marketers were looking at using invasive technology to see who was watching their TV so they could tailor their commercials to the audience....hmmmmmm......this made me remember back in 2001 there was similar talk of such invasive technology being used via cable boxes....hmmmmm.......Now, the US Government is funamentally requiring people to get cable (that was one of the recommendations on the website of my congressman!).......this move in one way constitutes a manipulation of information into homes....we all know how easy it is manipulate, add, change, and control digital anything........

One question: Is there more here than meets the eye?

DEPLETED URANIUM: TRUTH OR HOAX?

It is not just a song lyric - children are the future. Every child should have all the good that is within a society - its love, care, protection, and support. It disturbs me when images of alleged "uranium depletion" birth defects fill numerous- and highly questionable and controversial -websites . There is only one bogeyman in the picture, the US MILITARY! Yet, Russia is on par with the US in its use - and any abuse - of such materials. Objectively, looking at the sites in question several things seem to be very apparent...

There is always a link to IRAQ in the text....one site even implied there were no birth defects until the arrival of the US Military. This alone is questionable due to the high degree of potential politicizing by a) terrorists or b) deranged activists (the kind who blow up things in the name of peace). The pages always infer the birth defects pictured are Iraqi birth defects...and yet the infants and children shown include older children of obvious non-middle-eastern heritage. Some include needless repeated images of the same child to infer more than their facts imply. Some of the images also appear to be taken from an earlier time period.

All the images share in common one strong reason for suspicion - they lack any provenance. Where were they taken? Who took the pictures? For what reasons where the pictures taken? Have they been altered? (one one website several very severe images had the look of being touched up to enhance the "gore" factor and to create deeper contrasts in bruises and growths. One image had the clear "fuzzing" often found in cheaper photo manipulation programs revealing it had been doctored.) None, declare where they found the images, but it is obvious they have been lifted and lifted from one website to another.

Additionally, some of the birth defects include conditions that have been around a lot longer than uranium as a military or defensive material. They are, however, conditions usually not found anymore in the US due to a variety of reasons (abortion, better medical care, better pre-natal care, etc.). The people in the US sometimes forget that the perfect person so much regarded in entertainment and the media (perfect teeth, muscle tone, etc.) - seldom exists without massive public health and many self-indulgences that are lacking in many other nations and cultures.

Yes, we should protect our world's children from every threat: hunger, disease, pedophilia, drugs, war, and abuse. We should also protect them from becoming political wishbones in danger of being torn apart for some agenda. We should also apply some common sense evaluations and critique to information found anywhere before we jump on any bandwagon in cyberspace. Not all urban myths, hoaxes, and scams come to your email box.....some just sit on the web waiting for you to some to them......

ANATOMY OF FEAR

Why do people like to be scared? Why do people seek thrills and chills? Why have horror movies and books retained their popularity? Why do people - in the void of any true scary story - create urban tales of spine-tingling suspense about a place?

Biologists suggest it is because we are made that way...Eons old survival tactics produce responses that kick-start the body's ability to face, run away, and outlive a situation. That is why some responses (open mouths, screams, raised eyebrows, faster heart rate, sweating...etc.) are common across cultures...and even some species.

So.....why do people, who are no longer facing the tiger or other dangers of the wild, still seem to need being frightened now and then? Is it a reaffirmation of life? I made it! I survived! I can face anything! Is there a primal need for us to face down danger and overcome it! Remember, the early fairy tales were actually for adults.

Psychologists chime in with the suggestion that we actually need to be scared a little as we grow as children. Despite the "kinder-gentler" trend of some, children actually need to know there are dangers, that they can overcome them, that they need to be able to respond appropriately (run!), and that in the bosom of family they are safe.

The ancients were well aware that fear can dibilitate and compromise : " A man who has been in danger, When he comes out of it forgets his fears...and sometimes forgets his promises." (Euripides, Iphigenia in Tauris (414-12BC. ). This may be the source inspiration for the popular saying that crisis does not create character - but rather it reveals it. Who we are - at our essence - manifests itself in crisis and in fear. They also recognized that it could be beneficial: "There are times when fear is good. It must keep its watchful place at the heart's controls. (Aeschylus). All, however, recognized that the chief role of fear is to magnify the danger to allow for speedy and safe survival. "Fear makes the wolf bigger than he is" says an old German Proverb.

Modern authors, aware of this constant of the human condition, even forecast it reaching far into the future:
"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."--- Frank Herbert, Dune (character reciting the Bene Gesserit Litany Against Fear).

So be afraid..breathe deeply of life lived another day....enjoy an occasional thrill....but listen to those instincts and be safe..

ANCIENT GHOSTS: ROME & GREECE

In ancient Greece and Rome there were several commonly held characteristics concerning ghosts. They appeared to warn the living of some danger, they might be accompanied by some physical manifestation (such as thunder), and they appeared during the dawn or twilight hours (or when there was a firelight or a lamp lit) as they apparently needed some light source to manifest. Most sources indicate they did not like full sunlight - but rationale for this was unclear, except to comply with a philosophical construct equating light with good and dark with evil in a manner similar to the constructs about beauty-truth. They often appeared as creatures very shadowy, pale as death or very dark. They might look as they did in life or at the moment of their violent death. They appeared via dreams (as in Cicero's account of the travelers), signs, and portents. Reanimated corpses were classed as ghosts but apparently they, and their reanimated corpses, could be made to totally disappear when vanquished.

Ancient Ghost Tales

In ancient Greek there was a tale recounted as true by Pliny of a haunting. The story was that dreams revealed the death of someone and when the body was found it was just as the dreams had said. In ancient China there is a story of a girl thrown down a well who haunted the location - especially any men who came by - until someone solved the mystery of death and disappearance. In the Bible is the story of King Saul going to the "Witch of Endor" - a medium or discerner of spirits - to get advice from his deceased mentor, Samuel. The act is frowned upon by Judaic-Christian teachings, but nonetheless, even though the woman was probably a fraud, on this occasion the woman apparently brought up something that scared even her!

LIFE ON MARS?

Is it just me? Has anyone else noticed that in the last couple of years there has been a slow change in the tenor of remarks about the nature of Mars? A few years ago it was all categorical, "We do not feel there is any likelihood of life....water.....etc." Yet, something has changed...slowly there has crept into the news releases....an almost preparatory tone. Tiny little leaks that seem to be minor - yet..... The Disclosure Movement claims that there is just such a coming declaration:..."oh, yeah, we really meant to tell you all about the life we found....or who found us.....a long time ago."

"What Disturbed the Coyotes?" An individual who lives in a part of NW Norman that was more country than city, reports an interesting incident. Housing tracks have been creeping ever closer - so much that the meadowlarks the woman once enjoyed hearing have long gone (they like open spaces). The fields that remain are dormant wheat that will surely soon be taken over for some housing development ,"without beauty or soul" she notes. Some coyotes have a den in an earthen mound in the center of the field. They range up and down driving local dogs crazy but seem unafraid of shouting humans waving flashlights. They have often turned to stare - with glittering eyes - at such empty demonstrations of human power and authority. Recently, however, this homeowner was awakened by a stranger sound - both dogs and coyotes were barking in obvious distress. The homeowner crawled out of bed and went to the patio to take a look. The dogs were straining at the far side of their enclosure, staring off toward where a tree, branches broken in the winter's ice storms, was bravely leafing once more. The coyotes were in the field, circling around and around, and appeared to be looking toward the same tree. They seemed less brave than normal - agitated. The woman turned her attention to the tree again. It seemed to her that a branch moved as if something was looking back at her! It may have been, she said, just her imagination, but it seemed that eyes glowed from the area of the fallen branch, above the fallen branch, as if something stood there in the dark shadows. A deep sound was heard...not a gruff or a hoot...and not a bark or growl. A twig snapped and the shadow seemed to lighten and the dogs - still agitated - grew a little calmer.

'WHO THREW THE BEARING?" In another story, a Norman woman was in her bathroom putting in her ear-rings when she heard something drop and begin to bounce across the floor behind her. She turned in time to see a steel ball bearing type object half bounce and then roll to a stop on her bathroom floor. She had never seen it before and tracking back to see where it came from - there was nothing! There was nothing on the walls or piece of equipment that it could have come from! It just seemed to be tossed into her bathroom to bounce and land on the floor. She has been searching and still has not been able to identify anything in her house, and in her bathroom, that could have been the source of the strange steel like marble.

HARP, Chemtriails, Earthquakes: Playing with Fire

An American Chronicle article (click on title for link) examines the possible connections between HAARP experiments (ours and other nations?) as a cause for the China earthquake and notes that some think that chemtrails may be an attempt to cloak the use of a HAARP device against us. Truly scary - as was the author's posing of the question: are we already in a war that is playing with natural earth forces (like earthquakes) to devastating end results? There are some who believe they can play around with nature and escape ramifications. With the recent string of earthquakes, the magma building in Yellowstone, and several other events occurring around the globe , a word of caution comes to mind: Don't Mess With Mother Nature! Are these simple natural processes shrugging into a cycle of activity we still do not understand? Are these the result of manmade forces being merrily played with in an attempt to control or destroy? The problem is that the latter is all too easy to believe. The over rationalization of many scientific fields in the 20th century led directly to a lack of imagination.....few seemed capable of visualizing ramifications of brilliant scientific ideas. From fluoride in the water to the implications of plowing under food producing fields to grow fuel substitutes - simply because it can be done - does not mean it should be done. Lacking the ability to imagine end results has led to many, many current problems. Globally, there is a need to train scientists to use their imagination, an ethical philosophical base, as they tinker with the workings of the universe, or our world.

THE EARTH MOVED......AGAIN

Oklahoma over the last week has experienced an unusual amount of seismic activity...again. (See earlier post on history of earthquakes in Oklahoma). Just Tuesday (June 10) in Lincoln County and the week previous (June 5) 4 quakes, 2.5 on the scale, had a epicenter at the junction of I-44 and I-40 in Oklahoma City. This is not something new to this area. It had reported some smaller quakes earlier.

On the global scene the North American plates and the Eurasian plates are currently moving away from each other (they move and float back and forth all the time). This may be producing some strain, or buildup, in some areas. Some action may be in play that is simple less understood. The USGS earthquake watch site shows the Pacific Rim pretty active over the last seven days. There is still so much that is not known about how these earthquakes develop, relate, and occur in less likely areas. Many advances have been made, however, due to the dedication of many scientists and researchers who want to understand why the earth moves under their feet.

Some reports indicate the famous earthquake of 1812, that caused the mother of rivers to flow backwards, from The New Madrid fault, is still not completely understood. According to my sources, there are also other rumors that are floating around about unusual seismic activity in Yellowstone and a couple of other out of the ordinary places. These may all be inter-related by some process still unknown or not related at all.

Conspiracy buffs have also spoken up and are already hinting of secret underground tests and other situations - but the evidence is just too sparse and not too creditable. Maybe Alex Jones or George Noury can uncover something....

Religious prophets have also contacted me with dire warnings of the earthquakes of the end times. "For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places: all this is but the beginning of the birth pangs." (Matthew 24.7-8 (NIB).

A Serial Killing Gang?

The recent discussions online about the "Smiley Face Murders"- some 40 college age deaths with smiley faces and clues left for those paying attention - may be rare but not unheard of int he annals of serial murders. The image of the lone serial killer is a theatrical construct because many killers have operated in tandem or in cooperation with another person or persons. Experts are still unraveling the tangled skeins that make up the mind of a killer. Just when they appear to say they have mapped and discovered all the variations - along comes another. o be classed a "serial killer" a person has to have killed more than one individual over a period of time and/or in various locations. The reasons they kill have been variously promoted as: early childhood trauma, sexual or physical abuse, or injury to the brain from birth defect or subsequent injury, and sociopath, antisocial or psychopathic personality traits. There is the mentor-mentee relationship where an older person takes a younger one under their wing so to speak. There is the sexual symbiotic relationship. There is the dominance dynamic. The result is as diverse as the real insular cannibalistic family of 18th century Scotland, a lone killer who preyed on gay young men, a man who hunted prostitutes, a couple who kidnapped and killed young women and man who heard secret messages in a song and sent his minions "helter skelter" to murder to hurry the "revolution" along. As English author Alistair McLean once noted in his book Satan Bug..."there's mad and then there's just bad..."

Our hearts go out to the families of those whose loved ones have been so cruely taken...

Based On A True Event

Based on a true event, reported from Wellington, Kansas.

"The yellow room was, from the very start, going to be Mary’s Mom’s special room to get away from it all, to sew, or read, or just sit and stare out the window. The new house, an old farmhouse they family had rented, had three rooms upstairs.

The room with the blue wallpaper went to Mary’s brother, the one with the pink wallpaper was Mary’s, and the one with the yellow paper…well that was going to be Mom’s. There was a bed for guests, a shelf for Mom’s dog-eared favorite books, a rocking chair tucked close to a tall window spilling in strong northern light, and her sewing machine. She mentioned so often that if she just had some space for her sewing….

Soon after they moved school started….
and things were pretty busy for awhile.
Then one day during one of my visits, I noticed there didn’t seem to be any activity in the yellow room. Everything seemed to be in just about the same spot it had been months before when they moved in. There was an “empty” air about the room….

When I asked Mary’s Mom she just laughed and said she’d been too busy to do much sewing. Once again months went by and then I noticed that the room was looking more like a… storage room than a workroom. Boxes stacked here and there and extra furniture stuck inside.

I asked Mary about it. She gave me a long look and then seemed to come to a decision. “When Mom first stopped using it,” she told me,” I thought great! if Mom can’t use the extra space I can…I can go in there and have true privacy for writing in my journal or practicing putting on my makeup so my brother wouldn’t barge in and start laughing. The first couple of times I was in the room it was all right…a little chilly…but okay. The room did, after all, face the north… so it was sure to be “cool”.
I’d wear a sweater…and still the room became even cooler. The sunny yellow wallpaper should have made me feel a little warm…. but it was the coldest…. yellow paper. It was more and more like the pale yellow of a sun through snowy skies than the warm, welcoming yellow of a spring day.

Then there would be the sense that I was being watched. It became…uncomfortable to be in there…alone. Little by little we all began storing things there. We haven’t spoken of the room to each other….but I think we have all… had an uncomfortable encounter with the yellow room.”

I could only stare at my friend. Was she joking? Pulling my leg? Somehow, I didn’t think so…I noticed Mary was running her hand over her sleeve as if feeling a cold chill in the air as she spoke.
Could I believe her?

One day soon after that I spent the night with my friend. Long after everyone else had gone to bed I lay wide awake reading. When I finally turned out the light, and snuggled under the covers, I saw the bright moonlight flooding the room and …it was then I heard a sound.
A harsh, scraping sound rang through the night air: “S-q-u-e-e-r-ch”
It was a sound I knew very well.

The old iron gate leading to the hen yard was uneven and one end was lower than the other.
Whenever anyone opened the gate it make that metal-dragging-across-cement sound.
I sprang out of bed and dashed to the window….and in the full moon light I knew I’d see whoever was sneaking around out there. I saw the gate bathed in silver moonlight….
I saw the yard….but no one was there.

As I scanned the yard for burglars I heard that sound again….”Sqreech” My eyes pivoted toward that gate….The sound of the gate opening…metal dragging across cement….but there was no body there…
No body…at all.

The yellow room was locked up after that until Mary’s family moved back into town. It was a bigger house…closer to school…more yard…that was what they told people anyway.

But Mary and I knew…..There would be no gate that opened by itself on cool October nights….. under the eye of a full moon. In the new house… there would be no room…with yellow wallpaper….

BLACK MESA: Mystery of the Oklahoma Panhandle

Black Mesa, rises from the plains nearly 5,000 feet and was a stopping place for people as far back (at least) as the Clovis and Folsam eras. It is the highest point in Oklahoma and looks into four states. It saw the likes of the Spanish Explorers. the pioneers trudging the Santa Fe Trail, and so many others....

• Two women shared in hushed tones in 2005 how that they had tried many times to go to Black Mesa but every time they got within a dozen miles they began to feel ill, dizzy, and anxious.


• In 1929, local newspapers carried stories of the "Ghost Lights" seen near Kenton and the Black Mesa, since the earliest pioneer days in what was then "No Man's Land."


• A blue-white light was reported being seen eight miles east of Kenton in the "White Rocks".


• In Cimarron County, 15 miles southwest were reports of other lights called a "lightening" were said to be often seen.


• To the southwest of the White Rocks a red-yellow light has been reported.


• When the lights appear on White Rocks - an outcrop some 40 feet in height - it lights up several yards on all sides. It may disappear and not return for weeks or months.


• Early scientists suspected radium but none of the ore was said (as of 1929) to have been found in the area.


• Local native legends indicated the lights were the spirits of ancient signal fires

SIGNS OF A HAUNTING

Researchers tend to agree that there are some signs that a location (such as a house) is haunted. These include:

1. Unexplained sounds.

2. Doors opening or closing by themselves.

3. Smells , sounds, or breezes with nothing to cause them.

4. Something seen - shadow, form, or unusual object or light

5. Unexplained missing and re-appearing items.

6. A sense of being watched.

7. Electronics that turn themselves on or off .

8. A depressive or strange mood or emotional state while in the place.

The most important thing for a reseacher to do is to eliminate possible natural causes for all that is reported. For example, the electrical or electro-magnetic sources in a place can duplicate many of these signs (4,6,7, 8). Shifting ground, contracting/retracting wood, water/air through pipes can account for some as well (1,2,3). Some forms of mild neural conditions (such as temporal lobe epilepsy and similar conditions), or more serious conditions (tumors, lesions) can create some of the signs as well (1,3,4,5, 6, 8).

This highlights the value of creating data records, recorded by numerous individuals, over a period of time. As more pedestrian explanations are ruled out what remains, though improbable to quote Sherlock Homes, becomes the best explanation.

It Was Supposed To Be Haunted!!

Doing some research lately, I have found numerous locales were terrible things really did happen in early day Oklahoma and yet no haunting reported - ever! Then there are tales of the murders and the like at the Masonic or Children's Home in Gutherie that the "old timers" who lived nearby will tell you never, ever happened. So what gives? A huge conspiracy to keep silent about "true events" or a case of first impressions creating the story? If a place looks like it ought to be haunted - does our subconscious respond with a haunting? Strangely, it appears that the most haunted places in Oklahoma City would be the areas of the present Cox Center and various down town environs. Murders, arson, gun battles, jealous rages, poisonings, grisly accidents, and the like all occurred long years ago beneath the concrete and brick of these areas. When was the last time anyone mentioned a ghost around those areas? I wonder how soon they will - now?

GRUESOME, MORBID, GHOULISH -

No, not the National Press Club. These are terms used in the newspapers of early Oklahoma City to describe a serious of awful finds in the city dump. "Mountains of mangled flesh" or bodies most "dreadfully abused and mutilated." People pondered often in the midnight dreary what monster walked among them. Not even twenty years past the dreadful "Jack the Ripper" crimes of London Town - there was much for the imagination to contemplate. One story told of the finding of a small infant whose tiny body had been horribly "mutilated" by skilled hands and then the tiny body tossed on the "ash heap." One headline questioned what awful ghouls were prowling the gas lit streets of the new capital? The slasher in this morbid tale was none other than the local medical school, Epworth College. Or, to be more precise, the janitor of the facility. It seems that he had simply taken the discard body parts, bloody cloth, tumor removals and even corpses used in practice dissections, to the local city dump.

ORBS

Taking pictures in the dark presents very real framing problems....the pole in front was not really seen until after the event... In this instance a piece of equipment had recorded a high reading from the bench seen in the photo. Several had seen - in the dark - what appeared to be a nascent glow developing that looked like a woman in a church hat. This is what spurred the photo being taken despite the pillar in the way. The glow over the door in the right side of the photo appears to be an orb. Is the orb caused by spirit presence or an illumicated piece of dust? Ah....that is for you to determine.

Old Building - Old Blood

In a remote part of NE Oklahoma sits a building that locals claim is haunted, by a dark and bloody past, and an unquiet present. It is currently private property to protect it from vandals. So its exact location will not be shared. One tale is that during the 1920's someone was murdered in this building and it is claimed that the spots on the wood floor remain to this day. Attempts have been made, so it is said, to remove the stains but none have worked. One of the problems in verifying this aspect of the story rests in the history of the state during that time period. It was a wild and lawless time. Racial and economic prejudices abounded resulting in a lack of news for events related to large segments of the population. So many events occurred among the states, poor, ethnic and migrant populations that never made it into print. Police reports were never filed. This, coupled with the reticence of locals to talk about what they do know - makes research difficult. The researcher has to be able to establish the history of a location in order to validate - or nullify - legend. In some cases, this process proved far more interesting than the "legends" developed over the years. In one case, the historical research proved that something had happened on the location - just not what the stories had said had happened! In that case - the truth was more interesting -and much stranger- than the stories.

EXPERIENCE IN OKLAHOMA'S "LOST CHURCH"

T. and M. recount going to a place known as the lost church near Muskogee, Oklahoma. " I was sitting there in the church about midnight with a group of investigators. Suddenly the temperate at my left side fell by nearly 20 degrees! This pillar of cold moved slightly til it was in front of me...it was hard but I determined to remain still and not freak out...then I felt something lean against the inside of my leg....just like a child would lean....after a few minutes the pressure receeded and the cold moved away.....and the temperature returned to where it had been previously."

The Reflecting Mirror

Story recounted by Dustin: " There was a mirror in a house I knew when I was growing up in North Carolina. It was a strange mirror. When you looked in it at night it would reflect back a different ...you. The image was always sllightly off or distorted. Skintones might be very different.....green or very pale.... This was a house that also had many, many shadow people type experiences....was it a vortex into a different dimension, I wonder?"

Wrapped In Angel's Wings

Story recounted by Phillip: “ I had gone to visit my grandmother who was on her deathbed. The family knew she was not long for this world. Downstairs I met some of the family and the pastor as he was leaving from praying with her. As he lingered to visit with the family, I made my way upstairs to her bedside. As I walked in I saw that there was this large figure of bright gold-white light behind her headboard with something like wings spread out wrapping around the edges of the bed. I did a double take because I knew the headboard butted right up against the wall. There was not any room for somebody to be standing there! The figure looked toward me at the door because I had not moved and when he-it saw me looking at it….a look came on the face as if to say” you should not be able to see me!” Later, as I left after my visit, the pastor was finally exiting from visiting the others and he lingered as I stepped off the porch. He looked at me and nodded before asking: “Did you see the angel?” I stopped short…..apparently he too had seen the same thing and could tell by my bemused face what had happened…”

The Earth Moves Under My Feet.....: Rumbles in Oklahoma

In 1906 a huge earthquake struck San Francisco and photos and news agencies began showing the modern world how deadly the event could be. Quakes were not unknown and were studied in that region. Less than one hundred years prio, however, a surprise quake had rattled the central US with no cameras at hand to record the New Madrid fault's massive impact.

Although located dead center in the continent, Oklahoma has an impressive number of earthquakes each year. The Oklahoma geological Survey says they track between 30-167 tumblers each year. The historical record indicates that most severe was actually located in Missouri – the great New Madrid Quake of 1811-1812 (Mag.8) and in 1881 a quake centered in Arkansas. The largest one in Oklahoma is the April 9, 1952 quake that was a mag. 5.5 and sent shock waves across the heartland – Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Texas). The first recorded quake was in 1918 around El Reno, and for the next two decades, it was quake central. In 1969, there was a mag. 4.6 that caused minor damages. The Meers Fault, the most significant core of earthquake activity in the state, lies NE of Lawton and travels NW. For unknown reasons, perhaps related to global seismic activity, these quakes will tend to appear occasionally, as one did on 2-16-08 around the town of Caney. The great earthquake of 1811 is still considered a mystery in many ways – it functions in a way that scientists do not fully understand. The question is: can Oklahoma be due for another big rumble anytime soon?

A TENNESSE TALE: Haunted House or Another Reality?

Here is a story from a friend who at one lived in White County, TN...

"There was an old house, big colonial type place, that was reputed to be haunted. A friend convinced me one time to go "ghost hunting" (another word for trespassing and exploring in our case). It was huge with a large main hall and a parlor room off one side and a dining room off the other. A staircase led upstairs and although the stairs were gone, it was possible to climb up there on the remains of the risers. My friend went off in one direction and I went into the dining room. As I crossed the threshold, it was like going through a black and frigid corridor. On the other side the dusty, empty dining room was totally different! There was furniture, pictures on the walls, and food on the table. I could even smell the food! I heard movement and voices from elsewhere in the house. I heard the sounds of pots and pans from the door leading to the kitchen. It was so bizarre. I was thinking and wondered if I touched the food what would happen? Could I touch the food even? I was just reaching out a hand when the door to the kitchen started to open and I instinctively jumped back through the doorway into the hall. Once more was the sensation of the dark and icy space and then I was facing my friend. He was pissed and asked where the hell I had been! I looked at my watch and not a minute had passed but his watch showed that 30 minutes had gone by. He had been looking for me - even going through the dining room! It never happened again and I cannot explain what I experienced this time..."

A Peach Marks the Spot

There is an old legend related to the area of Douglas, OK. Apparently a man lived there who was vehemently anti-religion. He was a follower of Robert G. Ingersoll, (August 11, 1833 – July 21, 1899) Civil War veteran, American political leader, and orator during the Golden Age of Freethought, noted for his broad range of culture and his defense of agnosticism. (See Wikipedia entry). The man in Douglas was well known for railings against the church and mocking art work was said to adorn the walls of his house. The Oklahoma Folklore Collection identifies this man as a W.H. Sade of Douglas, OK. He named a son for Ingersoll. His son grew ill - so the legend states - some think it was appendictus. The father believed the boy had eaten a peach stone and father came to believe it was a peach stone that killed his son. He became so fixated on this idea that he came to believe his son would grow into a peach. He refused to bury him in a Christian cemetery. Despite his family's pleas he buried the boy in a pasture. His son would grow there into a lovely peach tree. His headstone had a carving of a peach on it. Years later, a sister had the boy re-buried, a customary headstone placed, and rested the peach stone at the boy's feet. Census records show a William H. Sade in 1920 in Douglas....same man or a coincidence of names? Truth or fiction....moralist tale of the sin of agnosticism or a strange tale of grief unabated?

A Phantom Carpenter

There are several places around the country with reports of a phantom carpenter...and one that may even be from the early days in the Appalachian Mountains (thus indicating its roots in Eurporean folklore?). According this tale in the winter of 1915 in Coweta, Oklahoma a family named Orcutt hired a young Indian man named John Brown to do carpentry. The job went on and then the young man became ill, the job unfinished, and the tools left at the job site. One day the sounds of pounding and sawing and hammering came and the family assumed the young man was better and back to work. Soon, however, word of the young man's death came. The family were shocked and then surprised that being that ill, the young man had somehow come back to work. The man's family said that was not possible, the young man had been on his death bed at the time. Obviously, the Orcutt's surpmised the young John Brown had felt he had made a promise and must keep his word to finish the work....

This story was collected in 1936 and the Orcutt home three blocks off of Main street was still standing at that time. Fact? Fiction? A piece of folklore in search of a new home? [Oklahoma Folklore Collection]. Research verfied that there was a family of the name of Ocutt in Coweta in 1910 and by 1920 they are gone apparently. Also, there is a John Brown there in 1910, born in Arkansas, no age listed, and identified as a black man. He is not there in 1920. They same? Different? That is still a mystery. It may be futile to try to find facts in the midst of a good legend.

Why Houses Are Haunted?

There is something more than this level of existence but not everything is positive and not all is as it seems. There are several reasons as to why a house might be what is termed “haunted”. Evidences of haunting include many groups of phenomena. Unusual noises (rapping, tapping, squeaks, thuds), unexplained electronic fluctuations (TV comes on by itself, garage door opens, lights dim); a “sense” that a presence is present, an explained sense of being touched when no one is present, and a visual or auditory signal that it translated by the brain as a “mist”, a “figure” or a “light”. In addition, there are reports of temperature fluctuations in the presence of an alleged ghost or entity.

1) A true haunting: A presence, clearly related to a specific deceased person or persons, or a specific historic event. Observed, heard, and/or recorded with possible manifestations. The theory is that the person may not understand they are dead or may be reluctant to leave out of dedication, love, commitment to a location or a family.

2) A residual presence: Just as sound imprints on clay or wax, the electromagnetic energy of strong emotions can leave an impression in a residence or a location. Battlefields, murder locations, places of extreme grief can be places were
Something remains to replay like a stuck recording. These do not interact.

3) A Dark Entity: Not all things spiritual are beings of goodness or “light.” Some appear to have a decided intention to create fear, cause harm, and harass. These appear to come on the scene when someone carelessly leaves the “door open.” This occurs when someone asks “the spirits to come” instead of a specific entity. Like gatecrashers, these dark spirits crowd in and are reluctant to leave. This is where “demons” and “evil spirits” and perhaps “shadow people” can be classed.

4) A dimensional portal or vortex: This is a theory related to physics and the idea that there may be other realities and perhaps sometimes tears occur that allow things to slip in.

5) Misinterpretation of known phenomena: The strange sounds are really squirrels in the attic; the door closing by itself is the periodic shift of the house as the ground freezes or thaws, the strange light is a reflection, the thumping is air in the water pipes, etc. Carbon monoxide leaks have been the source of more than one supposed haunting where people experienced listlessness, hallucinations, and depression. 6) Sometimes, people and not places are the issue. Some people through a love of the macabre, the gothic, and the darker things of life can actually attract evil entities to them. Some people with some types of mental illness are driven to thoughts of suicide, feelings of isolation, or paranoia. People who misuse addictive substances can find themselves victims of dark entities because the drugs or alcohol lessons their control and ability to reject the attempts of the dark entities to take over.

Rules to avoid problems:
Never make a general invitation to the spirit world to appear, make itself known, or take over someone for communication purposes ; Follow a religious rite for safety and purification: holy water, sage, crosses, praying, blessings, etc. ; If you investigate some place, command the spirits to stay there and not follow you home.

A TALE OF A HAUNTED CHURCHYARD: An Early Bigfoot Account?

Did a group of men encounter a spectre in an Oklahoma Church yard or a Bigfoot?

Theo R. Hamilton and A. Robert Milligan (Krebs, OK) recounted in 1936 to folklore collectors that in about 1881 in the region of future Oklahoma one experienced something in a haunted churchyard. As they recounted the tale, a small group on a work related trip decided to camp near a church with a cemetary. A game of cards started and the wind became strong that someone suggested going into the old church to play. Since none relished the idea of lingering alone near the cemetery, they all went in. Soon, however, they were startled as a huge amount of noise came from their camp...as if someone were clanging their skillets against the wagon bed and attacking their camp. Yet, when the men rushed over to see.....all was peaceful....the horses calm....they men headed back but then they saw...something...."a large apparition resembling somewhat a preshistoric monster with large staring eyes"... One of the men found a large rock and threw it at the figure, and the men recalled hearing it strike the apparition....but it seemed the thing just disappeared....It did not take long for the men to break camp and set off at a swift pace to get far away from the strange place and stranger occupant.....[MLS Oklahoma Folklore Collection].

Haunted Oklahoma

One the questions people have concerning alleged haunted houses is why the haunting? Usual explanations (a violent or tragic past) fail to measure up when the place is a brand new residence or shop or street. This has caused some to speculate that places are not haunted only people. Others express different explanations involving classifications of "ghosts", "residuals", "manifestations", 'dark or negative spirit/entity"and "spirit echo". Some - borrowing heavily from 'string theory' even suggest that such events we call haunting are really thin portals into another reality that, in some ways, mirrors our own. When reviewing the literature of the history of humanity, there is a frequent image of just such a situation. The ancients recognized the "thin veil" dividing the dead from the living, this world from the next, and one reality from another. The ancient Celts also referred to this shimmering walls, these thin spots, in time and space. Some people have found that there are certain places where the normal rules do not seem to function normally: Spook lights dancing through dark forests in eastern Oklahoma, gravity hills that challenge our ideas in Bartlesville, disappearing people in Bethany, and strange haunted houses that provide sounds hard to explain in Norman. ALIENS ARE EATING US: The Conclusion

A few weeks back I created a fun little entry (found elsewhere on the site) poking fun at the backmasking, EVP, and reverse speech items I had found on a dozen or more websites and YOUTUBE. A veritable Pandora's box was opened and I learned quickly that a) these people are very serious about their belief that aliens are here, that they are eating humans, b) that these people take any negative comments very, very, very personal and c) they are a close-knit group. On the website of someone who shall remain nameless, I was accused by one of this person's supporters of stealing from the person who ran the website. I take such accusations very seriously - and I also take issues of LIBEL seriously as well. After conferring with my legal staff, I am stating here (for the record) that under no circumstances did I "steal the ideas" of this person. I provided commentary to information posted on several websites and to videos on YOUTUBE. I did not claim the ideas as my own (part of the definition of stealing) and indeed placed links to these various sources in the entry. Indeed ,the use of copyrighted material in the creation of satire is recognized by the US Copyright Office as a legitimate use of said material. So , even had I "stolen" anything I did not claim it as my own or try to profit from it and merely commented on it. So, I am plainly stating here (for all of those whose vocabulary is limited): I DENY THE ACCUSATION OF THEFT AND THIS BLATANT and TOTALLY FALSE MISREPRESENTATION OF THE CONTENT OF MY ENTRY.

INTERFERENCE

The conspiracy nut in the cell next to me- who contacts me frequently - wonders why there should be trouble accessing my this site in recent hours? REVERSE SPEECH

Unknown to many there is a protocol of dialogue used in discussing unproven ideas. It is called open discussion, review, weighing of evidence, and dissecting evidence and is a process used in academic circles where a free exchange of ideas is valued over pet theories or unsubstantiated claims. It protects everyone from bad medicine, bad science, bad government, and allows anyone to gauge and determine for themselves the strengths or the weaknesses of any claim. Langston & Chris concluded that presumptions go along way to determining what someone will hear. Simply go there and listen without being told what the audio is saying and see what you hear.

Keiner, Altis, & Voss indicate that there may indeed be an element of reverse speech in human communication but that is used subconsciously. This would seem to undermine the claim of some that they hold conversations with "spirit beings" via EVP Reverse Speech.

Banks suggests that there is a real possibility of "auditory illusions" just as there are visual illusions. Just as the History Channel recently suggested regarding reported "rods", (unknown, apparently biological forms caught in photos), that they were caused by the camera itself. It is possible these messages are also artifacts caused by auditory processes we do not yet fully understand or by the mind seeking to find order from the chaos of the reversed speech.

A note on the messages posted on some websites of reversed messages allegedly of politicians, musician's, and etc. I notice that the voices missing are those of the people posting these. Surely, they can also test themselves, or someone can test their audio on 'You Tube' to see if they too have "reverse" in their speech.

WASHER WOMAN GHOST

In 1936 Hattie Turner reported a story from the Park Hill area of eastern Oklahoma. In the days after the Civil war, near the present site of the Sequoyah Training School and near the old Cherokee National Female Seminary. The son of a local preacher would often have to chase after cattle that had roamed away in those days before the areas where fenced. One day the son of the preacher looked toward the deserted brick building and saw a woman, wearing a sunbonnet, washing clothes near a large tree, while water sat over a nearby fire. Assuming that someone had been sent to open the place or had simply moved in, he thought little of it and turned back to the cows. Glancing back he found that the woman, the wash tub and the fire had all disappeared. Now the preacher, when he heard this, was certain that he could prove that something totally rationale had occurred and there was nothing to for his son to fear. So, the next evening he set off to the same spot and then returned with a most puzzled look on his face. He told his son he had seen everything the son had claimed but had no explanation. "Some things," the preacher concluded"...we just cannot explain." (Adapted from the Oklahoma Folklore Collection, collected 11-16-36)

Look! Up In The Sky! IT's Bird, It's A Plane...It's a Big Sphere?

Developments in the crafts that fill our skies have been the source of many reported "UFOs". Super-secret development craft, like the U-2 and the Stealth Bomber, were mistaken for something other than what they were. Well now, just in time to add to the confusion come the "21st Century Airships" glowing spheres..... I predict that these will start another "flap" of glowing spheres being sighted in a similar manner that early weather balloons did. These seem to come in blue, green, red, yellow, baseball detauling, and some have animal faces to boot.... We have "flying saucers", "triangles" and "cigar shapes" - now we enter the full-blown "globe or sphere" reporting phase...just mark my words.

SPECULATING

In an earlier post I had mused about possible patterns in UFO accounts or "flaps". Reading some of the old, tattered tomes from the shelves, I considered what I was seeing. A large number of sightings occurred in 1950 - sixty years prior to that was the notorious "airships" flap. Sixty years ahead takes us to 2010, which is just a hop-skip-and-a-jump from the theoretical "end of the world." In 1947, there was a large "flap" - pre and post Roswell. Thirty years before that is the 1920's with tales of mysterious radio signals. Thirty years ahead is the major flap of the 1960's and yet another 30 years takes us to the 1990's and the sightings in Mexico. I know, it makes the head spin, but think about it a bit....once again there is proof of the need for well kept data for statistical analysis. If there are patterns, what do they infer? What process or activity does this unknown physical anomaly infer? Just speculation but something that will worth thinking on....especially as the next few months unfold.

Superstitions

Some early day superstitions of Oklahoma include these gems (collected by the WPA in the mid1930's). If you place a thimble on your finger on Sunday you will be greatly embrassed before bedtime. It is clear this is one that supports not involving oneself in work on the Sabbath. If you leave a funeral procession then death will come to your family. If you count the cars in such a procession then in just that many weeks someone in your family will die. Once upon a time people stopped, removed their hats, and bowed their heads in respect as a funeral passed by them. One way to avoid the staring of strangers was to indicate bad fortune to those who were so disrespectful. Some, however, are a little less easy to dicipher. Dreaming of muddy water indicated bad luck on its way. Falling upstairs would bring you bad luck - I am not sure if that is worse luck than falling downstairs....

1954 Sighting of a "Triangle"

The CIA report 00-W-30339 (from CIA FOLIA) contains a report of a story from Gemeaux 11 Jan 1954 detailing sighting of a red ball in the sky "surmounted by a triangle."

Still unconfirmed are reports of triangles 1953-1954 around Wright Patterson (cited as being in an APRO Bulletin) of a silver hued triangle with rounded edges and a sighting around Cairo, IL where a triangle with bluish green lights and bright rear lights was reported.

Suggestions that the black triangles are "stealth blimps" do not explain the early sightings (in the US and abroad) since the early years of the 20th century.

Some early reports point out seeing a bright red blinking light underneath - and it is interesting that apparently the Jan. 5, 2000 sighting by people across several police districts in Illinois, MO, Ohio areas also reported this light.

Strolling Through Graveyards

Shakespeare wrote "curst is he who moves my bones". At one time people wrote epitaphs to be placed on their headstones. Some were cute, some depressive, and others lovely. Plan now to celebrate Nov. 2 as the national day of "Plan Your Epitaph Day" (Also, Day of the Dead - cleaver right? I didn't plan this). I personally want a lovely headstone showing artistic flair and a little drama. I do not want want of those lot tags with a dehumanizing number either. I would rather be overcooked and my ashes scattered than that indignity! I also want something more than name and dates or banal "I told you I was sick!" Where did I put that book on writing poetry.......

"One Minute He Was There,,,,and Next He Was Gone"

Here is a story coming from someone who drives the commute daily into Bethany, Oklahoma along NW 39th Street. This event occurred recently. The road is four-lane, and from a distance, the driver saw a man, slim build, dark pants, and thin long-sleeved shirt hurrying across the street. All four lanes were visible at this time. A truck passed in one lane and the man was blocked for a moment or two from the driver's view. When the truck sped past, the man was gone. He was not on the street, he was not on the sidewalk, and since buildings and tall fences with gates were the only thing on the other side there appeared to be no way for the man to have so completely disappeared. It was chilly that day and the driver remembers noting that the shirt was thin enough that it was outlining the man's body and arms as he hurried across the street. The driver was not going fast enough to be unsure of what was seen. In fact the driver slowed down enough to be able to scan the area. The man was nowhere to be seen.... Ghost? Traveler through dimensions? A genetic mutation with the ability to go into stealth mode? A man who should have an "S" on his shirt for being able to move so swiftly he could not be seen within a 5 second frame of time? Anyone else had such an encounter?

I Should Have Bought While I Had the Chance

Strolling through the garden center in Goldsby, Oklahoma I saw once a stack of new large yard boulders. Keenly interested in adding just such a thing - but financially unable to fulfill the dream - I still stopped to look them over. They were amazing! They had honey comb chambers about as large as a hand. These were filled with a sulfur looking substance and iron from which rust colored veins emerged. They were so interesting I have looked for that same pattern but have yet to locate it. Imagine my surprise to see just that type of rock on a website claiming ancient Phoenician presence in Oklahoma! The photos can be seen here at Viewzone (http://www.viewzone.com/sender.html). The formation is said to be caused by differing erosion rates of the minerals in the rocks.

Anatomy of A Sighting

A true account: It was sunset, the sun had just lowered, illuminating the band of clouds in bright colors of pink, orange, and white. A strange glowing shape was heading north, glowing in the reflected solar light just as the clouds were highlighted. It shined brightly, a steady white light as it rushed perpendicular to the horizon. It never wavered, it never wobbled, and it never varied in its northward journey. What kind of plane is that? Seems so bright! What was it? How strange! Remarkable! Grabbing binoculars, it was soon clear that it had smooth, rounded angles. Tautly they reflected the sun's final ruddy rays with mirror like clarity. The light defined with startling clarity the guy wires dangling from the rounded body of... a balloon. A weather balloon, a rigid ice cream cone minus the delicious and edible basket, was headed north. Proof positive people can see things and not over-react or make quick assumptions.

KILLING SATELLITES

The US government plans to shoot down an ailing spy satellite very soon. They plan to pick up debris and avoid the mess China created in January of 2007 when they shot down one of their sats. All of this has caused me to wonder about recent video seen on the Internet of slow moving high burning "fireballs". Has someone (military, secret government, foreign power, aliens, or cartoon characters) been doing a little practice firing? Thousands of debris fall every year from decaying space objects placed there for spying, communications, or military use. Recently we had an asterioid that swept past Earth - with a wide margin we are assured - and yet....

So many possibilities.......

Look up in the sky...
Is it spacejunk? A alien vehicle? A supersecret test flight gone awry? A high flying jet? A common occurance of the setting sun lighting up condensation or ice particles as a commerical airliner goes overhead? Is the angle one of flight or crash? Have you seen things like this before? [Image and full story at Fox 13 ]. I have witnessed astronomical events - usually in the dead of night - that were as bright - but fell faster, much faster ,than what is shown here. Note the news account - the tag at the end says that "every month" the space center gets UFO reports. Every month.....

REJECTS

There have been since the late sixties a vast number of reported"contacts" and "abductions" by alleged UFOs. There have been significant studies made of the people claiming such contacts (John Mack for one) and other studies that indicate everything from their are real to there being a relationship between "fantasy-prone" personalities and such reports. The majority of these reports detail repeat "experiencers". These are people who are taken as children and then repeatedly abducted. Sometimes then their children and even grandchildren are taken as well. This led me to wonder what about the ones that were taken and then aren't taken again? Were they rejected for some reason? Did they not meet the research specifications? Did they not respond to the tests well? Did they prove to be impossible to control? Perhaps the research should focus on these one-time or limited experience eople to determine why they stopped being taken. Why were they rejected> Worst case scenerio: If some alien beings are really taking humans, conducting tests to manipulate the gene pool, create hybrids, or something worse - maybe the key to survival is waiting among those the aliens stamped "Rejected".

SILENCING THE NEWS

A disturbing report comes out of Stephensville, TX - the town that made national news last month with reports of UFO's. The newspaper reporter who broke the story and followed up with interviews of other events and witnesses is no longer working there. Turning in her resignation she was asked to leave immediately. What makes this so interesting is that others in the region have reported being intimadated and spied on by unknown parties as a direct result of their public comments about seeing something over Texas. According to a report at http://www.americanchronicle.com/articles/51832 the newspaper said people no longer wanted to read about UFO's. Most small town newspapers would be glad if even a portion of the community was interested in anything they printed. I am sure that the space taken by these UFO accounts will be filled quickly with deeply philosophical articles on the price of soybeans, the community fund-raiser, or the latest elementary school lunch menu. They will be happy to sink back into the obilvion enjoyed prior to the "fuss." Back to a time before anyone had ever heard of their community. When most small towns are clamoring to find a way to attract anyone to their towns....this behavior is a bit odd.

GHOST MYTHS

There are several statements made about so-called ghosts that are accepted and passed along as fact. Two that can be examined are the: "Ghosts reveal themselves as orbs of light" and " Ghosts only come out in the dark." Orbs of light became a significant aspect of ghost haunting with the advent of small portable camera devices. Prior to that most images supposedly of ghosts were long, thin, ectoplasmic strands or opaque human shapes. Research has proved that most of these "orbs" are a) dust particles, b) insect, or 3) reflections/camera problems. A practice has developed to do all "research" in the dark, with several television shows coining clever 'taglines' for the act of turning off all lights and turning on some infrared video device. "Spirits" are said to favor this time because a) there is more ambient energy for them to sap, b) they are afraid of getting skin cancer, or c) they love laughing at the artful researchers hitting their heads on low beams or running into spider webs in the attic! You see, there is no really good excuse or rationale for this night time theory. It no doubt stems more from late night keg parties .and daring raids on cemeteries. than it does on any real theory based on a working hypothesis.

THE DIFFERENCE IS ALL ATTITUDE

There is a tendency for the terms "debunk" and "skeptic" to be used interchangeably. The meaning of the word "skeptic" is to critically examine and consider, require evidence to persuade, and then decide based on objective fact. A jury or a judge is a party you hope will be "skeptical" as they weigh and consider the facts of a case. The facts will then convince one way or another. A "debunker" is some one who goes into a situation with "ridicule" or a desire to "expose" what they consider to be false in a situation, or what are considerd to be pretentious or outrageous claims. Philip J. Klass was called by someone 'the Sherlock Holmes of UFOlogy". The person apparently never read Doyle's works on his mythical detective. Holmes once said, " One you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth." This is possible only for the true skeptic, for the debunker it leaves far too much room for paradigms beyond their own estimatations of reality and would be tossed out. To "debunk" suggests that a person has an agenda going into a situation. To be skeptical suggests a level of rationalism and objectivity that, if the remaining possibilities are "improbable" can accept this and move on to finding an explanation.

FBI File on Poster Child of Debunkers

Philip J. Klass was the thorn in the side of just about everybody according to most reports. It is little wonder than that this poster child of debunkers, masquerading as skeptics, should have an FBI file. In 65 pages of reports, memos, and photocopied articles are revealed a fascinating dark side to this man who was often not above personal, and very ugly, attacks on UFO researchers. The file, located at http://www.cufon.org/cufon/Klass_FBI.pdf, notes that by the early 1960's there was an official FBI file on Klass for a 1953 article that revealed classified information. The Air Force was quoted as saying that one article dealt with something so classified that it could not be declassified for purposes of a lawsuit! In 1975, the FBI noted he had been twice investigated for publications of classified information and for his attacks on the character of Dr. J. Allen Hyneck. His books are noteable for their ability to track down and eradicate a non-issue as if it were the main event. To ignore facts that did not conform to his views. His lasting legacy is a warning to future researchers and a footnote on the willingness for those who claim to be skeptics to be at heart agenda driven debunkers. A memo of that year from the FBI's Mr. Kein to Mr. Moore states: "In view of Klass' intemperate cricitism and often irrational statements...we should be most careful in any further contacts." In another place, an agent in 1976 questioned if Klass was in "possession of all his faculties" regarding a 28 page rant that included terms such as "psychic time bomb", "Jewish subconscious transformation", and a device called a "cattle-prod prod" to be used against enemy aircraft. This is the Klass who was a founding member of the Committee for the Scientific Investigation o Claims of the Paranormal (CSICOP). He was called by Michael Sokolove 'the voice of cool reason". In 1983 he published his famous "UFO Curse" ..."you will never know any more about UFOs than you know today." Yes, there sounds the bell like voice of a mind that has closed its corridors to anything but what it firmly believes to be truth. Klass, High Priest of Debunkers and Close-Minded Scientists, died in 2005.

UFO FLAPS: Is there a hidden pattern?

Most researchers suggest that the UFO mystery has erupted at various times in what has been termed inelegantly as a 'flap'. There was, for instance, the "airships" of the 1896 time frame; Foo fighters and, possibly, a UFO over LA in WW2 but the secrecy of war may have prevented many sightings ; June 1947 saw another flap appear followed by a sharp decrease in reports until 1952 when UFO's buzzed the Capital in Washington D.C.; then another in 1957-1967 (with 1965 being very big; and then a sharp increase in 1973; In the 1980's the Hudson Valley UFO's; and in the 1990's the "black triangles" become prominent, especially in a flap in Belgium in about 1995. Some have suggested that these are reflections of social fears on the cusp of some important social change. Until more detailed studies are conducted to find possible correlations between significant social events and the "flaps" - this will remain a theory.

LA UFO - 1942: More evidence of pre-Roswell Events?

One of the strangest events under reported was the 1942 UFO over Los Angeles that had military types shooting at the unknown in the skies. It all occurred in the midst of Japanese sub dismissed as soldiers and civilian defense with trigger fingers and shaky nerves. Some even claimed it never happened - yet newspaper photos and stories testified that it did. Yet, no evidence has ever been found to support the suggestion by Gen. George Marshall that they were civilian craft hired by the enemy to spread "alarm. (See Good. Above Top Secret. 1988; pg. 448). This incident provides yet another pre-Roswell event and if valid, appears to further invalidate the official explanations for the Roswell event. UFO's within the framework ,or context, of war would have been serious business. Anything that could damage perceptions of strength or highlight vulnerabilities would be kept under wraps. Note, for instance, that Japanese balloon bombs did make it all the way to the heart of the country (Iowa), and in 1945, one even killed several people in Oregon. Most people are still unaware of these events.

KANSAS SIGHTING - Circa 1965

The following sighting comes from Wellington, Kansas in about the year 1965 (the respondent could not be certain). She believes it was in the summer or early fall. A noise drew the family's attention to the backdoor of their house on the northern part of the town. The back yard was awash in a red-orange glow falling from the sky above. No details could be discerned - only this strange red-orange glow. The object creating the light made no sound. The respondent remembered hearing dogs barking and her family murmuring as they looked out into the back yard. Her brother opened the screen and went out on the small concrete porch and then.....nothing. The next thing remembered was the family back inside the house and no mention was made of anything happening. The respondent asked about the "light" and her family looked a little blank and said "The light? Oh, yes that was strange." It continued to be only vaguely recalled for many years for all but the respondent. Note: in August of 1965 there was a large UFO flap covering much of the mid-west. Could this be part of that flap?

1955 Black Triangle UFO

A CIA field report taken October 4, 1955 in an undisclosed location reports two men on a train seeing a UFO. They described the object as being in a field and shaped like an "equilateral triangle" with lights on each of the three points. It took off from the field in a launch-like trajectory. The case file - 00-B-90229 - can be viewed at http://dbarkertv.com/fthistory.htm. In 1989-1990 the Belgium government investigated - and could conclude nothing - concerning strange triangle craft seen overhead, chased by jets, and recorded on film. In the mid-1990's reports of a triangle craft over Phoeniz joined dozens of other reports from across the country. Sugesstions have been made these are "next generation" stealth crafts (including a stleath blimp - which seems a contradiction in terms) or spy planes. If, the 1955 report from the CIA is valid - their origins are much older, and more mysterious, and should be something that is being actively investigated by more than UFO researchers. UPDATE: A search of the CIA FOIA site supports at least one sighting between Dec. 10, 1953-March 2, 1954. Report #: 00-W-30339 identified a sighting from Gemeaux a "red ball surmounted by a triangle."

In Search of Witnesses: UFO S Kansas ca 1965

Legend has it that in southern Kansas, around Wichita and Wellington, there were some UFO's seen in the 1960-1965 time frame. They may have been accompanied by missing time, lost memories, alien sightings, and power blackouts. If anyone has a memory of any such event - please leave a comment....

Triangle UFOs

An article on Space.com reported that the period from 1990-2004 saw a sharp increase in triangle shaped UFO sightings in North America, and elsewhere. The National Institute of Discovery Science (NIDS) had tabulated reports from various data collection sources. Their conclusions were that it was - by its actions and behaviors - most certainly a terrestrial craft. The question was: whose? Unlike earlier super secret aircraft there appeared to be little inclination to hide. Instead, the craft appeared increasingly over populated areas, major transportation arteries, and traveled at low altitudes. Now, there is an image being circulated from Australia that appears to show a triangle craft caught in a satellite image. If they are US based DoD craft the obvious question has to be what are they doing? If they are, as some purport, a new hyper-stealth craft, the increased sightings rather defeats the purpose. A fact that may lead to the next logical conclusion - the craft itself is not secret but rather what it is doing or how it is doing it or for whom it is working, is the real secret.

Life on Mars? Life on Earth?

The British papers have been buzzing with word count devoted to the 2004 Spirit rover image of something that appears human like in one vast image. One debunker, consumed by his own heady sense of self, made a telling statement mid-diatribe. He commented that scientists - the real type unswayed by illogical assumptions of life or possibilities - weren't wasting their time examining every inch of every image. I slammed my jaw shut and read it again in disbelief. If the "scientists" aren't examining those images - thank goodness somebody is! I think that in all the circus of the moment the real question if far more intriguing - what forces carved such an interesting and unique looking natural object? If this representative of a petrified Martian forest being uncovered by whipping Martian winds? Finally, the pundit I read was also smirking that the object was "small" and thus could not truly be living or of any real note.....for a man from the land of elves and fairies, I felt he was a little unfair....but obviously, for that writer, size does matter.

UFO'S IN HISTORICAL CONTEXT

Many people assume that the Roswell event was the beginning of reported sightings of unexplained things in the skies. An image said to be the first photograph of a unexplained object (what we call a UFO) is said to have been taken in 1870 New Hampshire (see the image at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UFO ). Up to WWII sightings were made of what many claimed were metallic like objects shooting through the skies. In WWII both axis and allied powers reported a mysterious light and objects that they termed "Foo Fighters". In 1946 "ghost rockets" were reported in the skies of northern Europe. In 1947 - a month before Roswell sightings were made in the Northwest by a private pilot and over Idaho by a commercial airliner. Some even claim that such objects may be in ancient images and medieval drawings. If the "UFO Craze", as some have called it, birth in the heady post WWII period, it would be a more clear-cut case and much easier to dismiss as mass hysteria related to the fear of the atom bomb being lobbed into our back yards by the "Commies". The fact that unknown objects had been reported 60 sixty years before Roswell....is a little harder to dismiss. Remember...just because you haven't seen something, doesn't mean it is not there....

ROSWELL - FIRST WORDS

Sometimes in research it is best to plod through the modern verbosity and head right to the source. A novel idea, but one so many seem to avoid. So what was said in those early days, other than the well documented Marcel, Blanchard, etc. ? Since it my blog - read the comments after each.

FBI Teletype dated 7/6/47
“an object purporting to be a flying disc as recovered near Roswell, New Mexico, this date. The disc is hexagonal in shape and was suspended from a ballon (sic) by cable, which ballon (sic) was approximately twenty feet in diameter. [blacked out] further advised that the object found resembles a high altitude weather balloon with a radar reflector, but that telephonic conversation between their office and Wright field had not [blacked out]borne out this belief. Disc and balloon being transported this office because of national interest in case,…no further investigation being conducted.” It would be very interesting to see who advised the object looked like a balloon. What office communicated with Wright?

Roswell Daily Record, July 8, 1947, “Roswell Man and Wife Report Disk Seen”
“Mr. and Mrs. Dan Wilmot apparently were the only persons in Roswell who saw what they thought was a flying disk…..a large glowing object zoomed out of the sky from the southeast, going in a northeasterly direction at a high rate of speed…it was in sight less than a minute….in appearance it looked oval in shape like two inverted saucers, faced mouth to mouth…. The Wyoming Eagle, July 9, 1947 , McMenamin, William F. “Only Meager Details of Flying Disc Given”
“AAF spokesman would only say that the “saucer” was a flimsily-constructed, kite-like object measuring about 25 feet in diameter and covered with a material resembling tin foil.” A phone call to Ft Worth and general Ramey revealed “ It bore no identification marks and Ramey emphasized that no one had seen it in flight….AAF sources ruled out the possibility that it might have been an army weather-kite. Helium balloons have been used for weather recording for the past eight years…AAF commanders in New Mexico refused to permit the object to be photographed on the grounds it was “high level stuff”…Ramey was reported to have said he was not attaching too much important to it… Note that Ramey underlines no one saw it in flight - despite the Wilxoc (article above) seeing something. This so easily mis-identifed object was a weather balloon used for 8 years. Roswell personnel thought it was "high level stuff" not to be photographed and yet Ramey will do just that in a matter of hours....

“Flying Saucer” over S. Africa, Canada and Austrailia?
A Reuters report indicated that 41 states had reported mysterious objects….and they had been also seen in Canada, South Africa, and Australia. Witnesses saw silver “donuts” and objects in a v formation and some that glowed. Note that these balloons musthave really gotten around, especially since there were only 10 flights in Project Mogul.

“Brazel said that he had previously fund two weather balloons on the ranch, but that what he found this did not in any way resemble either of these. “I am sure what I found was not any weather observation balloon, “ he said.” The farmer had previous experience with balloons - the components were basically the same components as evidenced by the Project descriptions -so what was so unusaul that Brazel, once he heard reports of flying discs, thought he should report it?

La Vegas Review, July 8, 1947 a UP story reported that the Army and the Navy “began a concentrated campaign to stop the rumors” and that as a result flying saucer reports “fell sharply”. A little reactionary is it? They had the cover, balloons, but they now felt a need to clamp down on it?

Project Mogul

Components (from the USAF and other reports):
Various claims as to the physical nature of the actual experiments have varied, ranging from 25 balloons, to 600 foot long balloon “trains”. Without better data it is difficult to determine if these may be referencing the same description using different terms..
Note: None of these components were classified. In fact just prior to Roswell a farmer in Circleville, Ohio found just such a balloon and it appeared in the local paper. What is claimed as top secret were the specific combinations of these elements (including a radiosonde microphone and constant level high altitude balloons).

(A FBI note of July 9, 1947 lists a “hexagon” item thought to be a standard Rawin radar target (Kevin Randle, E-mail 21 May 2001). A hexagon has six sides.

LIGHTS IN THE SKIES

Recent sightings of unexplained lights and objects in the skies of Texas, have once more illustrated how little things have changed in 60 years of sightings. One news source could not resist urging people to get out "their tinfoil hats" and others framed their articles in a manner suggesting the seeing of anything out of the ordinary was not logical (as if anything was logical in a random and chaotic existence). Some pondered why no one had a cell phone camera along to get photos on the one hand, and then start crying hoax about photos that were taken in another location. Is your head spinning yet? One UFO research and reporting group claims they get about 200 reports of unidentified flying objects per month. Serious people who see things they cannot explain....200 of them each month. In 60 years....with all the laughing reports...debunking ridicule....all the numerous scientific explanations (its a bird, its a plane, its swamp gas, it a cloud, its a mirage, its a hoax)...and military assurances of security....people still see things in the sky. People are used to looking up into the sky and seeing a few faint stars through the canopy of city lights and are awed when they see the truly dark sky filled to overflowing with marvelous shards of light. People recognize that things flying the sky behave in a certain manner and if you watch they will resolve into a aircraft, a helicopter, a balloon, or a blimp. People know that aviation follows strict rules for safety and that planes will have certain lights, placed in certain places, utilizing specific colors. People know that humanity has achieved great advances in technology but that some movements and speeds are still outside the reach of known science. When people see something that does not resolve into those familiar and mundane shapes they have seen a UFO - an unidentifed flying object. The mind's computer has scanned the image, run through the possible matches and come up with a sharp 'does not compute'. Those of a truly scientific bent, instead of pompously spouting nonsense about the 90% identified and explained sightings would be engaged in finding out about the remaining unknown. It is the "unknown" and "indentified" that science has always sought to follow to find answers...but maybe that belief gives more credit than is really due those who so quickly debunk rather than truly inquire about the unknown.

The Burning Time

Millions of military personnel records were destroyed in 1973 in a mysterious fire whose cause has yet to be determined (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1973_National_Archives_Fire). Possibilities suggested include a cigarette ember, overheating, and intentional destruction of the files. It is interesting to note that this fire happened in the time period as certain government practices and activities were coming to light. MK-ULTRA was coming to light revealing that various groups in the government conducted tests on unknowing subjects. Coming to light was the fact that the military intentionally exposed its personnel to nuclear fallout ("when the bomb goes off boys, stand up and smile into that big wind that comes this way"). The fire did occur at a time when many men from that generation were looking to retirement or seeking records to prove their stories of just such exposure.....what else burned up in the fire?

IT WAS ALL CAUSED BY A WEATHER BALLOON....?

It is interesting to note that most articles dealing with debunking Roswell (as an example) forget that it was not the only thing connected with "flying saucers" aka UFOs at the time. The month before in June, 1947, Pendleton, OR , Kenneth Arnold reported seeing bright, saucer shaped (crescent shapes he later clarified) flying north. Around the same time as the Roswell event (July 4) a United Airlines pilot reported several discs southwest of Ontario. That same day in LA it was noted in the LA Examiner that reports had come in from "Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, Idago, and other states in the far west." That same day in Circleville, Ohio an object was found on a famr that the local Columbus Air Field Weather Station said was something the Army Air Force used measure wind velocity (Hmm, no cover-up there). July 4, 1947 Santa Monica fliers reported seeing a disc-shaped object. July 9, 1947, LA Examiner reported lumnious disks were seen streaking across the sky (a picture is said to accompany this article). ROSWELL, ROBERT TODD, AND QUESTIONS

Anyone who has delved deeply into the whole Roswell saga, has come across several names: Jesse Marcel Sr., Philip Klass, Karl Pflock, and ubiquitous kudos to one "Robert G. Todd". Robert Todd was, according to the late Phil Klass, the Grand Master of UFO Debunks, a “believer in his younger days", a "sharp-eyed researcher" who pioneered using the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to uncover information and who stated the USAF in its report data, possessed an "encyclopedic understanding of military records" (something hard enough for people with a strong military background - or, so military types tell me). Phil also said “Todd was the first – ahead of the Air Force and Karl Pflock – to discover the connection between Roswell and Project Mogul …Todd has since become so disgusted with UFOlogy, he has withdrawn from the field and discarded his files.” (--Gary Posner, email May 30, 2001)

Todd, along with Phill Klass and others, came to represent all the aspects of Roswell that caused people to say, “something doesn’t add up”. They symbolize the intuitive awareness felt by many that some things in the explanations simply did not add up. The entire later half of the 20th century was comprised of a series of "preemptive hoaxes" apparently designed to undermine any possible valid information surfacing regarding UFOs or Roswell's famous crash. Consider for a moment, 1) Roswell begins to re-surface after several decades of being a faint rumor or totally forgotten and behold the MJ-12 documents surface and there is the haggling over its authenticity, 2) Roswell gains credibility through congressional investigations spearheaded by New Mexico politicians and the MOGUL explanation surfaces (aw, gee shucks, ma'am, I don't know how I forgot that top-secret project....), 3) yet Roswell continues to be considered seriously by too many people and the notorious "Alien Autopsy" film surfaces... even if this time line is off - search and you shall find the same "counter-moves" being made repeatedly to block potential credibility or serious investigation. Try it....you will find from the 1950's and the "Contactees", through the collapsing from within of major UFO groups (spurred by insiders for that very purpose some claim), to the whole smorgasbord of Roswell. A rise and fall of tide-like consistency, a dance of claim and counter claims serving to keep the whole subject the "fluff" of the evening news and the twinkle in every reporters eye ....

FOIA VS THE PRIVACY ACT: LINGERING QUESTIONS

Todd, along with Klass and Pflock, access military files of such depth (200 pages) they include evaluations, despite this being a clear violation of the US Privacy Act of 1974. This act requires written permission from the living veteran before such records could be obtained. Nowhere is there any record of Marcel providing this written permission. A lawyer was asked “which would take precedence in a conflict between a FOIA request and the Privacy Act?” Marcel died in 1987 and this Privacy Act is the same law that insures that the US Census Records are not made public until 75 years after the fact. Therefore, the records of Marcel’s military service should have been sealed for the same period. The National Archives Personnel Division has enough trouble just fulfilling the requests for ordinary servicepersons records (a fire destroyed many, many such records in the early 1970’s). Hundreds of families doing research into their own family find that the records of their veterans service has to be cobbled together from tiny facts gleaned from insurance records or other duplications. They are often merely entry-exit dates, location of service, and grade of service. Interestingly enough, the USAF has a website devoted to the Privacy Act...

I COULD HAVE BEEN A CONTENDER
Somethings really make a person go, huh? Robert Todd discovers the real cause of the largest and most culturally relevant UFO case in the later part of the 20th century and he “discarded most of his files”? He doesn’t publish in “mainstream” media. He doesn’t get a book deal. He had invested a large part of his life, so Klass said, to the search for just such truth and resolution of mystery. Yet…he discards it. This goes against human nature in so many ways.

In a July 2001 email to me, Robert Todd stated: “During the late summer or early fall of 1990, I was reviewing my two sets of FBI/UFO files one last time before throwing them in the trash. It was my desire at that time to end my research into UFO-related government records, and I was cleaning house….When I read though the FBI documents again back in 1990, I recalled reading the comments mentioning Project Mogul back in the 1970s, when these document were first released…as for when I received Major Marcel’s military personnel file, it arrived here on August 25, 1995, from the Air Force Military Personnel Center (AFMPC) at Randolph AFB, Texas. I had requested the complete contents of that file from the National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) in St. Louis, Missouri. NPRC referred my FOIA request and Marcel’s file to the AFMPC for release determination, because NPRC does not have the authority to release the complete contents of such files. They are allowed to release only limited information, usually only listings of duty assignments…Robert Todd”

[Note: in 2000, I asked these same questions on a webpage I had set up for historical research and soon had an increased difficulty downloading the page. It opened slower and slower over the next few weeks. When I checked the statistics there was a through the roof spike of hits to the website. There came to be more and more pop-ups from the ISP hosting the webpage saying there was a problem accessing the page.....I finally took that page off the sight and strangely enough all those problems disappeared....overnight. I will leave it to your own over-heated imaginations to determine the why of this particular wrinkle. Hopefuly that willnot happen in these enlightened days...or maybe there is a 'bot out there seeking mentions of key terms.....hey, maybe I will get see those "Men in Black".]

ROSWELL REVISITED

What Happened In Roswell?

In 1999 I made a trip to Roswell, toured the museum, and enjoyed the fun of the place –then made popular by a combination of 50th anniversary awareness and a popular television show with a theme by Dido. As many questions as answers had been supplied by the numerous books I had read prior to the trip. I saw a collection of “research” works that were anything but research. I had read the US Air Force Report and hoped the bumbling appearance of events was not a true account – it was too scary if that part were true.

Things began to trouble me as I read the works of Klass, Korf, and the USAF Report. Klass and Korf appeared to offer up evidence in the form of their version of selected pieces of events. Like the false fronts of a main street on a Hollywood sound stage, their pat answers were not absolutely persuasive. They would fit up to a point and then the questions would start again.

Questions like:

How did all of those researchers in the 1990’s onward get copies of Jesse Marcel’s personnel files and such detailed information? I was researching a family member who had served in WWII in the 1990’s and was informed that the majority of the files for the letters close to and including the “M” files were destroyed in a fire. They had to get my family information (date of entry, date of discharge only) from an insurance database. Yet, these researchers received thick files detailing Marcel’s military service – complete with evaluations - from WWII until his discharge in the 1970’s.

How did all of those researchers in the 1990’s onward get copies of Jesse Marcel’s personnel files and such detailed information? In 1975, the US Congress enacted the US Privacy Act that severely restricted providing information to a third party without their informed consent. I checked with a lawyer (in 1998) who specialized in working on Government cases and he indicated that for those reports to have been received without permission appeared to be a violation of the Privacy Act.

Was Project Mogul was the Cause of all the Commotion? Charles Moore came forward in later years to suggest that a special radar target may have been what was in the famous photographs taken in General Ramey’s office. He believed that the top-secret Project Mogul balloon flight # 4, launched June 4, 1947, was the famous Roswell debris. It is interesting to note that this ultra top secret project – given so they claim- the same level of security afforded the Manhattan Project, was listed as never recovered for nearly 50 years. Apparently, no one had given this part of the this top secret test project, a thought until someone suggested as much to the USAF and Moore in the early 1990’s. Further research, however, indicated that the radar target was nothing new and they had been in use since before the end of the war and in 1947 80 weather stations used them (Roswell Daily News, July 9, 1947). All the components of the Project Mogul were theoretically garden variety and not classified. What was classified was the combination of several of these elements ( a radiosonde microphone and constant level high altitude balloons). Question: If these were so garden variety…why were they mis-identified? Other balloons had been retrieved previously (in Ohio just the week previous) and these radar targets had been in use for many years and were never classified.

FANTASY PRONE PERSONALITIES

The literature of psychology, and skeptics, utilizes this term to identify people who claim to see UFO's, Ghosts, or experience anything "para-normal". There are long winded, and sometimes extremely pompous reports, detailing the markers of this "condition". From about.com: "Psychologists Sheryl Wilson Theodore Barber have identified what they call a "fantasy prone personality." According to them, this small percentage of the population has retained from childhood a great deal of their ability to "live" their fantasies. What they fantasize is much more vivid and real than for most other people. Characteristics of a "fantasy prone personality" include vivid waking dreams, susceptibility for hypnosis, possessing imaginary friends as a child, having psychic experiences, having out-of-body or floating experiences, encountering apparitions, visions or hallucinations and receipt of special messages. Many believe that reports of paranormal events or experiences are more likely from such individuals. " There are 14 markers for this condition. The question it raises is who determines what is "normal"? At one time in the early parts of the 20th century it was believed by many rationalists in child development that fairy tales and the such were counterproductive to producing children with keen and rational minds. later studies tended to support the need for fantasy to produce healthy, well-balanced children. Fantasy, it seemed, played a strong role in teaching children how to cope, how to handle the things they had not yet experienced, and gave them models for handling fears and challenges via archetypal images. A study has indicated a strong link between creativity and FFP, "The fantasy-prone person: hypnosis, imagination, and creativity." Lynn SJ, Rhue JW. Someone - I cannot recall who - has even suggested that people like Einstein would have been labeled FFP. That is this ability to fantasize about the "hyper-normal" potentials that make great inventions possible. The other lab rats are running their familiar little maze saying there is no "paranormal" or anything beyond what we have labeled as normal. The little Einstein mice are doing their fantasy/creative work and are saying, "I wonder what's over here?", "Why can't we do that?" and " What if we do this?" We should be concerned about who we allow to define normality: dry, rationalists with no spark of imagination or those with a creative spark who recognize that we may never be able to grasp the limits of the thing we call the human mind. Remember too, once the "establishment" said the earth was flat and that was the normal way of things.

FIRE IN THE SKY

Jan.1, 2008 witnesses reported seeing strange lights traveling E to W in the skies about Clairemont, CA. A few days, and numerous hooky jokes later, the tentative explanation was they were "Chinese Flying Lanterns" often sent aloft for good luck in the New Year. They even showed a video from You Tube. Another UFO sighting bites the dust...

But wait....southern California just weeks after devastating FIRES had ravaged the hillsides burning homes and businesses? Just weeks after San Diego itself was threatened by fires? The video of the lanterns - most found were dated from about 1990.

I am sure that no one wants to believe that Californians are stupid enough to set aloft a burning lantern to sail out over dry grass and ground cover after devastating fires......so maybe this explanation needs to be re-examined.

Never let the Truth Get in the Way of A Good Story...

Several years ago I notified "Shadowlands" website that two stories on their Oklahoma listing were either tall tales or total urban legends. To date, they have not adjusted either listing. This brings up how important it is to do live research as opposed to Internet searches or just asking your buddies if they know anything. Most of my buddies simply turn a slack face toward me and scratch themselves, but that is another story. One of these "I'm-bored-out-of-my-skull-let's-make-something-up" tales involves the library in Choctaw, Oklahoma. The town only acquired a library in the late 1970's and for years it shared space in the local community center. It's first real building was destroyed in a tornado. It had limited hours for nearly two decades - few of which involved any nights. In fact, until recently the latest it stayed open was 6 p.m.! Now the latest is only 8 p.m. People on staff and in the community were interviewed. They had all lived and worked in the area since before the library was open and had no knowledge of any such tale. Students from local schools working as volunteers, or paid staff , had never heard any such tale either. It is a small, open space library and falling books would have been easily noticed. Given the fact there was no evidence of any such story really existing outside some pre-teens fantasy prone imagination....there is no story. The other Choctaw story involves the Junior High where mysterious voices of children can be heard....which is no real surprise since an elementary school shares the lot! When I examined the location the little munchkins were all over the place....So, hoist high the flashlight and make your face spooky for these little gems are good tales to tell if you aren't concerned to let a few facts get in the way.

C.I.A. FILES: IS ANYONE REALLY SURPRISED?

I am amused by the shock and consternation being shown by various news media over the possibility that the C.I.A. would have destroyed documents related to the alleged prisoner abuses. Is anyone really surprised? U.F.O. people have claimed for years (decades) that the F.B.I., the C.I.A. and who knows what other members of the government's alphabet soup, have done just that with evidence about the existence of aliens and UFO's. Where there is smoke there is sure to be fire. Certain agencies may not be used to dealing with people they cannot label as "loonies", "nut jobs" or "crackpots." Where once they might have been able to smile and say they were the government and the government always has the people's best interests at heart, today, there are too many of suspicious leaning who may communicate with others via the 'Net. Secrets are becoming harder and harder to keep. Ethics and morals are shifting making it not as simple to assume people will do the "right thing,. The right thing may be making a few bucks off the information they have or can get. The right thing may be looking out for numero uno. The right thing may not be anything what it was 50 years ago. So....maybe this will begin a crumbling of the wall of secrecy....maybe 2008 will begin a draft of fresh air through files, storage areas, and minds closed for decades.

SOLVING THE RIDDLE OF CROP CIRCLES

I did it. Yes, I solved the riddle of the crop circles. I was flying high over the desert country of Arizona, Nevada, and southern California when I observed strange circles on the ground, diamonds, and roads going nowhere. I looked closer and there were geometric patterns all over the place. There was even what looked like an old computer game where the little round ball cannibalized all his friends....

My mind went to the dozens and dozens of crop circles emblazoned in fields in England, Canada, and Iowa...The theories about what they were trying to say to us and we were just too unenlightened or non-technical to comprehend.

It hit me like the falling meteor that plowed into Arizona and left this really big hole in the ground...what messages are WE sending to the aliens with all these patterns that are already in the fields and countrysides of the planet?

Is Earth listed as the "teasing" blue ball of hicks who say there is "free beer and pretzels" and then take a .22 to their space craft when they try to land? Does a warning light blink on the dashboard of the flying saucer "Warning! warning! Ignore signs "for a good time abduct here" and proceed immediately to the party district three galaxies ahead."

I don't understand why someone didn't solve this one a long time ago.....

Are The Ghosts You And I?

Recently scientists claimed that looking at "dark matter" changed the nature of the universe and by observing this, and several other stellar displays, humans might actually be creating their own demise. Yes, I know it hurts but take two aspirin and do not call me in the morning. This led me to another researcher who claims that all paranormal activity is generated....you guessed it by you and I. The brain you see is an incredible instrument able to generate manifestations to suit our demand. Why this never worked in Algebra these scientists never said. I know I would have liked to generate some manifestations of good-enough-to-get-me-out-this-class physical activity on the pages of several tests! So go forth in absolute certainty that there is nothing out there to fear, nothing goes bump in the night, and if you see, feel, or smell anything it is all just a figment of the imagination.

Who wants to go first.....?

They Are Watching....

Silently they creep closer in the chill night air...their feet silent stakes in crusty snow...eyes twin lanterns of a terrible glow...patiently they pace their pursuit...they can bide their time....

Just Down That Street

I was barely five years old when we went to Nebraska to visit my grandmother in the hospital. She was recovering in a town nearby because the local facility was inadequately equipped. I had never seen this place before and I wasn't entirely thrilled to be going. I didn't like hospitals very much.

I played with my dolls quitely in the back seat as my older brother unsuccessfully navigated the streets to find the one mentioned by the gas station attendant. Although I was focused more on brushing my doll's hair and untying and retying her bows, my brother's frustrated sighs still managed to filter back to me. After a few minutes of this, I popped up - apropos of nothing - and told him quite matter-of-factly, "Just go down that street and then turn and its there." I then went back to playing with my doll as if I had never stopped.

Figuring he couldn't get any more lost, my brother took my suggestion, made the turn, and traveled for several more blocks and then turned once more. And there, just as I had said but shouldn't have known, sat a neat brick hospital.

Needless to say, everyone turned to stare at the kid in the back seat. Although I could not read and had never been to that town, I nonetheless managed to successfully navigate us.

Happy Halloween!

There was once a troupe of children who went out one windy, wet halloween and passed by that certain house on the corner. The house every town has and wishes it did not. The house draped in silken cobwebs and faded to the pale tones of ivory in the moonlight.

Whispering, bolstering each others courage, they approach the house. Generation to generation the stories have been shared of the house, its secrets, its past, and its strange present.

Closer they come, clutching tightly the bags and pillowcases of their candy plunder, until they stand poised on the brink of the wide yard. Face to face with the thing that has inspired a thousand dreams and millions of shivery frights they wait. Should they dare it? They are fast. They can run to the porch and return before....well before anything could happen.

One leg raises to take the plunge and cross the desert of the doomed....

A light appears in the house, dancing and bobbing through the lower rooms, as if moving to unseen music.

Shrieking and gobbling in fear the children spin and dash away, dash away into the night. Hearts pounding in their chest they do not stop until they reach home, light, and warmth.

"Did you have a nice time dear?" mother asks. "Yes. It was alright."

A reflected headlight? An intruder with a flashlight? Or.....maybe....something else? Ah, that is the beauty of mystery....never really knowing the truth and basking in the "maybe" that lurks in the back of your memory.

Stairway....

Stairs have always held a fascination for me. Especially those with rails and windows. Experts say that features such as doors, windows, and stairs are representative in the subconscious of the self. Dreams of cleaning windows may indicate a desire to see clearly, being lost in a house may indicate a sense of being overwhelmed by life or a period of inner growth where you are "spring cleaning" the psyche. Stairs may represent some journey of inner enlightenment. They are in a sense connections that link one place to another, bridges that we must cross so to speak, to arrive at some knewledge previously hidden from us. Symbols can be very universal at times but often they are so tied to the individual and their unique experiences that it is hard to understand. Our stories - written, shared, or viewed - should always have a mythic element. This is a subtext that addresses different questions or expresses different realities. This adds meaning and application to a story making it more significant because it speaks to the common human experience.

The Rippling Curtain Between the Worlds

I love October...the crunchy leaves, the chilly nights...and the drama and imagination of Halloween. I was one of those little kids that lived in dress-up clothes, tripped around her mothers heels and should have won an Oscar at some point in Kindergarten for my stellar performance of Little Red Riding Hood. I am also an American Celt...no I have no real language and the major customs but there were a bunch of Celts in my family tree.

Despite the lack of language and a loss of many customs...the blood runs strong in other ways. The poet is alive, the warrior, the dreamer, and...face it... the schemer. There is also the mystic who can step out into a night and almost see the shimmering layers, that curtain us from other realities, as they ripple in some cosmic breeze.

Halloween began as such in a long distant time. It was a night when someone would leave the door between this world and the next ajar. The recently dead, and perhaps other things, could come to call. Saucers of milk would be left out as an offering to keep the visit...friendly.

So enjoy the sigh of the wind and the crackle of leaves as you walk. Set out your autumn decorations and enjoy the "October country" as Bradberry called it.....but leave some milk out on the night. Just in case.
